If our PP wasn't complete crap he would be first in the league. Pretty safe to say the bad PP has held him back about 5 points so far. If it continues to be bad, he will probably end up with 8ish points less than what he could have with a strong PP.

What a ####ing shame they took away one of his goals just to help them justify their goal ruling. Was tipped and still legal. Could make a difference at the end of the race.

Uh, they credited it to Gaudreau after the fact.

Trading him at 30 though
If by exaggeration you mean by me, no, I wasn't exaggerating. I remembered at the time when I heard that, I said to my nephew, if that guy's on drug or something. We had been waiting for the team to have a superstar, and finally got one in Iginla, and some guy wants to trade him for picks.

But I agree with you, the Flames should have traded him sooner than they did.

Yup, shows as Gaudreau from Stone and Brodie now.

Good, that was the correct ruling.

With all due respect for McDavid, Tkachuk had a more dominant individual game this week.

Imagine how many more points he’d rack up if we had a functioning powerplay. He’d have like 75 pts at least.

Fairly certain he got hosed for an assist against the rangers though, I don't think Chucky tipped the Hamilton shot

Interesting discussion on 960 this morning -- whether Gaudreau gets enough attention in this City given what he's done this year. The guy is currently second in NHL scoring right now. And was top 10 two years ago.

Is there any question this guy is an elite, NHL superstar? Besides McCrossover, is there a better player in the Western Conference?

He gets recognition in Calgary. However national media coverage could carelsss about gaudreau. It’s all about Mcdavid and Matthews.

He's a small player - didn't go high in the draft - thus presumptively not in the elite class. We all get categorized in life - many of those are hard if not impossible to shake even after proving others wrong time and time again.

We also got lucky signing him after a "down" year. Imagine how much he would cost after this year? Certainly more than Draisaitl.

I would say Johnny is underrated by fans and media from the rest of the league. You go over to the cesspool that is HF boards, and they regularly have him outside of their top 10 players in the league lists. Yet guys like Matthews and Eichel are on there. I wouldn't trade Johnny for either guy TBH.

But hey, whatever. Let the league keep underestimating the guy because of his size. When he wins the Art Ross this year, all those McDavid / Matthews bootlickers will be eating crow.

I say let Johnny fly under the radar. The day he gets anointed as one of the best, is the day you start seeing stupid terms like ''overrated'' and ''not in the same tier as....'' get tossed around. Suddenly all the critics show up.

Let other fans ignore him. Let them think Mathews and McDavid deserve all the attention. Because I have a feeling Gaudreau is going to win the Art Ross, and suddenly those fanbases are going to be all butt hurt and salty. It will be glorious.

I do think he's largely under-rated by fans (especially the dim ones) and media on the whole, but it is nice to watch broadcasts of American games as he tends to get a lot of love and gushing over from US based commentary teams. They love them some Johnny Hockey.
