I kind of in the same boat. I bought a 20 gig 4G ipod about a year and a half ago and according to the diagnostic msgs i've been getting from Itunes the HD is corrupted and every place I've looked online says that the error# i'm getting basically means my Ipod is and expenisive paperweight.

Some of the things I have been thinking about when getting a new one is that even though I have more than 30 gigs of music. Probably could fill up an 80 gig one if I wanted too. I doubt I really ever listen to more than 8 gigs, and I definitley don't listen to more than 8 gigs in a one week span. So I'm thinking of going with a nano instead, and updating it more often rather than having all my music on me at once. Plus the nano is much more convenient in the gym.

I'm also considering not getting an ipod because of my last experience, but even though my last one broke I still really liked it.

Might also wait for the next Gen of Ipod to come out, hoping that the touch screen thats being rumoured actually comes through, and just getting a cheap flash player in the mean time.

I'm giving one of those third party do it yourself batteries a go -- just ordered one for my 3rd gen and my wifes mini. Hopefully I don't destroy them... I'm not known for my mechanical apptitude

Has anyone tried replacing their iPod's battery before? Any tips?

The best device to use for opening an iPod is a guitar pick, you will all need a small set of Torx wrenches, but other than that it is pretty straight forward on the 3rd gen. I believe the mini is a little more difficult, here is a guide to taking apart the mini http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-Mini/

I saw an article (not official) that had a prototype for it, where the touch sensitive parts were all along the edges so you don't actually smudge the viewing surface. I guess thats technically not really touch screen but more of a full screen ipod. Anyways, it looked cool, no idea if it was legit or not though.

Point is that every generation of ipod has been cooler than the last one so i'm debating whether to wait for the next one. I'm guessing they should be due for a new one by the summerish.

I use my Treo 650 as my MP3 player. You can't save all your music on a 2 GB card. But I upload different tunes on my computer from time to time. The thing I love about is when I am at the gym I can take calls while I am working out without having to carry a phone and a MP3 player. It is also handy to play Texas Hold em while I am riding the stationary bike listening to tunes.

Hey guys,
I'm looking at purchasing an MP3 player and have it narrowed it down to 2 players but am torn between which one to buy. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these players or thoughts. The two players I'm thinking about are:

1. Sansa SanDisk e250 (2GB) for $129 OR
2. Creative Zen V Plus (4GB) for $149

I too, am looking for a new MP3-video player. My Ipod Mini crapped out on me after almost 2 years.

Been looking at the Creative Zen Vision M 30GB. The best deal so far is at Best Buy, $289 and take off an additional $25 with coupon, so $264+tax. Anyone here have this particular unit? Are these reliable? I've never bought extra warranty before, and the Ipod is the first electronic that has failed on me in a short period of time.

Thanks.

The Sandisk units are great! You can sync it with any audio program, including Windows Media Player. For no hassle, you can also do drag and drop through Windows Explorer.
