I don't think Reimer (the only NHL goalie moved mid season) gets them in the POs. Who was available that didn't move, that would have moved the needle enough to get into the POs?
If Treliving was tanking, then it worked out well enough.

Technically I don't think the game winner was a high danger scoring chance as he was off to the side when he let it go.
Giordano got walked and Smith got beat high short side on a pretty good shot but I don't think that would count as high danger!

This probably illustrates a weakness with the fairly arbitrary definition of "high danger scoring chance," but that cannot be helped.

yes
if I knew how to post a pic I would. On the nhl.com highlights there is a camera shot from behind him. You can freeze it at 2:27 with the puck in the air and him clearly inside home plate.

How so? He is free and clear of Giordano, and no more than 10 feet from Smith. He has plenty of time to look at his target and fire a clean shot.
If that isn't high danger then what is?

If he's in the box it's high danger. If he's not then it's not.
Not a perfect system but it's the least subjective way of making sure the measuring stick is even from team to team around the league.

This is me talking just on my own recollection of the game highlights that I last watched two days ago. If it occurred within the so-called "home plate," then so be it. I was merely commenting on how defining shots as "high danger" on the lone criterion of location on the ice is not unproblematic. Such qualifications are necessary for forming baselines, but they will not explain everything.

I misunderstood TC's post when I first read it.
Yes, statistically, that is really only way to track it.

6 game losing streak now. Flames gotta get back on track if they can, otherwise they have to be purely sellers at the deadline.

They should sell sell sell, doesn't matter recoup as many picks as they can and bring in a whole new coaching staff in the summer.

I think Treliving is a good GM for the most part, but if he's not willing to admit his coaching staff was a horrible mistake and correct it, he needs to go too.

If the Flames continue to swap out GMs every 3-4 years they will also continue to be a middling team and organization.
We need some stability.
Every time we fire a guy we look back years later and say "hey that guy did some good things".
If you establish that a GM is only going to get a couple of years they are going to constantly make short-term moves. Why would they not? If they can't produce a winner RIGHT NOW they will be canned.
Stability and an allowance to see a vision through over the long term is what most great franchises have in common
And something this franchise hasn't had since Cliff Fletcher.
So no - let's PLEASE not fire the GM
