This is my first game of the season down at the Dome this season. Ergo it's gonna be a Flames win

I've been thinking.

We should get a CP section for a game, maybe actually make the dome seem like its not a library. Get some chants/cheers going and bring some life to the dome.

Decent article from DGB on the teams that made out good and poorly from the expansion draft.

Flames did quite well. LOL at the Panthers and Jackets.

Vegas made out like bandits. Scored 1st round picks from the Jackets and Islanders, then swapped firsts with the Jets to move up 11 places.

And now they have a team that might actually be a contender....

Crazy

EVERY SINGLE TIME... Gaudreau gets the pass back in the neutral zone and tries to carry it in. You would think that they have 2-3 different options?? Maybe a set play with a dump-in or surprise the other team and pass it to someone other than Gaudreau.

It's just really frustrating to see.
Yep - you just don't see the better PP units in the league doing the same, predictable things game in and game out. This pass back strategy is only effective as a zone entry when you mix it up.

It's not that they aren't prepared.. they just get bored during the 3rd period. I wouldn't blame them, 2 periods should be more than enough for a hockey game.. right?! I especially feel bad for them because they have had to play almost an entire extra period over the past 4 games.
Record when scoring first: 16-4-6
Leading after 1: 10-0-5
Leading after 2: 17-0-2

I don't think the issue is the 3rd period. Looks more like we have a hard time getting the lead.

Did you not follow the last four games?

Is it too cynical to predict an OT Loss?

Bigger sample size paints a truer picture of the season.

No, I would say the fact that the Flames have blown leads and lost in extra time in each of their last four games is a significant mental hurdle that needs to be overcome. Scoring first is positive and there is a positive trend in that direction. But they have to stop blowing leads.

Hopefully Frolik can add a little extra zip to the offence and especially the PP.

After gifting the Oilers a mercy win last week, this team better come out of the gate with fire in their bellies tonight. That crap was unacceptable and they know it. Well, at least Tkachuk knows it. Not sure about the rest of the guys or the coaching staff.

Anyway... GO FLAMES!

I disagree. these last 4 games aside, they have not been known to blow leads very often. The stats I provided prove that... but if you want to weigh the last 4 games heavier than the previous 45, that's your call.

Going to the Game with my son's tonight. The younger one assures me the Flames will win.
He has outgrown his Gaudreau jersey and can't decide to get another or a Tkachuk

Yes. For sure, their record with leads is good. But there's been a small trend which needs to be nipped in the bud.

It's quite interesting, actually.
I was going to let this slide but it's flat out wrong. The last time they showed up with some energy? How about last game? The game where they completely dominated the Oilers and had a 2-0 lead after the 1st period.

The starting the game unprepared narrative when they've had the lead in 4 straight games is silly. Now, turning on cruise control and blowing leads is a valid criticism of their play as of late.

edit: They've actually scored first in the last 5, 8 of the last 9 and 10 of the last 13 since Christmas.
