Flames new lineup

Hathaway-Stajan/Lazar-Brouwer
Gio-Hamilton
Brodie-Hamonic

F no. I would trade Brodie every day of the week over Mike Stone. Hell, I would trade Hamonic before him as well, our best shut down D man and a huge component of our PK as well as being our most physical D man. When the playoffs roll around Mike Stone is going to be a very important player for us. They can trade us Mark if the brothers want to play together.

Exactly, as if it wasn't bad enough that back then D. Sutter continually trading 2nd round picks, coupled with bad drafting that left the cupboard bare.

The way they've been drafting in the late rounds makes me ok with them trading their first rounders. If the first rounder helps to get someone like Stone, deal it. If it's for someone like Kane, don't.

If you watch every game and don't think Stone is physical I don't know what else to say. I guess not if you expect him to be Regehr but that is like expecting Monahan to look like Sydney Crosby. Regehr was one of the greatest physical D man to ever play the game.

He's right. Stone is constantly man-handling guys behind the net, and does so with a good job of walking the fine line of not getting called on it. He's no Reggie, but he's certainly a physical d-man.

Strange, when you think physical that you think of one of the most physical players to play the game in the last 20 years..
Anyone who doesn’t meet that standard must not be physical.. ?
Stone is very physical and is a shot blocking beast.

Yeah maybe for todays standards i guess players are softer. If you listened to Fan 960 this morning the whole team got thrown under the bus for being soft. Thats what this team is missing i have been saying that since last season.

The team is soft because the assistants are the two softest players on the team. People take on the identities of their leaders and I certainly would be doing all I can to avoid having Monahan and Brouwer lead this team. They are both way too soft to be part of the leadership group.

The team is soft, what about adding a guy like Gudas from the Flyers? Sure he's dirty but seems to have cleaned it up a little and he would keep the other teams looking over their shoulders...the team needs someone mean and intimidating.

Can we then send him out to bash Kassian's face in?

Yes, and he's the kind of guy that would smash McDingleberry in the head if he ever got close to him.

I like Gudas not sure if the Flyers would trade him. We have Prout in the minors im sure he could take Barts spot as the 7th Dman. Use him against the Ducks and Oilers.

I know this will be unpopular, but Kassian's loose screw mentality is something this team lacks and could use more of.

He was an absolute idiot last night and disappeared for a good chunk of the game as a result.
Much prefer Tkachuck's mastery of subtlety enraging half the league at a young age and drawing an insane amount of penalties as a result.
I'd like to see a bit more grit for sure but so many chicken little's here and all around these days making things sound way worse than they are. Between Tkachuk's agitating skills and Ferland / Hathaway & Gio and Stone, I think we do allright in that department. We have played both LA and Anaheim hard this year without backing down.
It's nowhere near as bad as some here are making it sound. Which could be the motto for most topics this year so far.

He could have easily cost them the game if the Flames had any kind of PP
