I admit to being a little confused about why scouts' opinions would matter. These are all kids already signed to one of the participating teams, right? I mean, I can see why scouts would attend to see if there's anyone worth pursuing in trades, but that's not the focus.

Edmonton can have their own tournament. Let Vegas take their spot...

I could be wrong, someone can confirm, I just thought they invited kids to the rookie camp and then the same for that tourney a few months later.

I'm hearing YoungStars tournament in Penticton might not go this upcoming Sept. with Edm, Calg, Wpg, Vanc prospects
So he's right even if the tournament is only Calgary, Winnipeg and Vancouver or whatever.

It's not all the same group. For example, college and European players will attend the summer camp but not the Young Stars.
There are always undrafted/unsigned players who get invited to the summer camp and the Young Stars because no team has that many drafted/signed players to fill out a roster.
Some players get invited to the summer camp and don't do enough to impress management to earn an invite back in September, and some players don't get invited to the summer camp but do get the call for September.

Jason Botchford said that it might start to rotate locations
Burke has been pushing for it to be in red deer

Cost-wise that makes way more sense. In Penticton everyone has to fly (likely via Charter). In Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton can bus it, and for Vancouver/Winnipeg flying to Red Deer isn't much different than flying to Penticton.

More rumours are swirling about the future of the NHL Young Stars tournament in Penticton.
Canucks President Trevor Linden told The Athletic Saturday changes are indeed coming to the annual event.
“Young Stars has been a fantastic tournament and Penticton has been a great host,” Linden told The Athletic. “There will be some changes to the format for next year, which will be shared in the near future once all the details have been sorted out.”
Meanwhile, Province writer Jason Botchford reported over the weekend that the Calgary Flames have been trying to move the tournament from Penticton “for years.”
“One of the ideas tabled was that the tournament would be moved around on a rotating basis,” Botchford reported.
The event has been close to moving to Red Deer in the past, he added.

Going to honest, it will be a harder sell taking the wife if there are no wineries to sweeten the pot. it always made for a great little vacation in September. I guess the other side is that it is an easy road trip from Calgary. It would just suck having to do do that drive for each game, as I can't see myself staying in Red Deer.

Just heard from a friend (Canucks fan)
That this tournament is back on this coming year. Looks like one of the Flames or Oilers will be hosting it. Not sure on official location at this point.
Awesome for us die hard fools!

We're going to Red Deer, if I had to guess. At least I save on hotels and not buying cases of wine.

Should start a new thread for this I guess now.
This tourney is back this year in Penticton. Flames, Oilers, Jets and Canucks.
September 11-15.
