Leah Remini and Mike Rinder pen an open letter defending Paul Haggis and basically accuse the Church of Scientology for being behind accusations of Sexual Assault and Blackmail of Haggis
Anseri is an interesting guy who has chosen dating as his main topic. The majority of his stand-up and material (even a book called Modern Romance) is on the subject of his dating life. He talks about dating sites and apps and shares a lot of personal stories in detail.
So it's interesting that he's the one now being the object of a story and accused of being bad at reading cues, when he wrote the book on it.

Personally, I wouldn't put it past the church and their "Fair Play" policy, and also their defense and attempted coverup of Danny Masterson.
I actually believe there may be truth in what they have to say.
We expect the next “revelations” about Paul Haggis in this campaign to destroy him to be based on information culled from his scientology files in the form of more “anonymous” accusers, hiding behind a lawyer who will never have to disclose who is paying their bill.
Those who accuse without going to law enforcement, those who seek hush money to keep their stories secret, those who make accusations to the media anonymously – they are suspect

It was a perfect train wreck, if the story is accurate, you had a guy who really seems like he is poor at handling himself around a woman and reading attraction cues, with a complete stranger in his apartment on a first date and then coming onto them akwardly.
He would have been better off taking her out to some dimly lit none busy pub and talking about his experiences and doing what comedians do, charm you through stories and hilarity.
After all when you seek out a date with a celebrity, you are in effect seeking out that celebrities experiences and stories. That is what she wanted to hear and that is what Aziz Ansari should have given her.

That just seems like a really strange comment. Make me a bicycle, clown?

You're suggesting that he should just perform for this lady to check a box for a someone on a date with a celebrity. That's pretty odd no? Why would a person do that?
edit: Ashasx covered it
edit again: nm he uncovered it, god dammit Ashasx.

Well feel free to disagree with me bud, I really don't mind, but when your life is full of some great stories, it is generally easier to be captivating. A first date somewhere he could have had a good discussion would have been much less akward for him than a first date in his apartment on his couch.
Sure, but he's under no obligation to share celeb stories to someone as some sort of fan service.
Very true statement.
However he would have stories in general, same as the person who has travelled the world would have stories, so would the guy or girl who climbed mount Everest or done anything else out of the ordinary.
In my experience, being worldly makes you a better conversationalist and being a good conversationalist is very important when dealing with people.
I think though Nik and you can certainly rebut this if you think I am incorrect but I think I know where our disconnect is.
When I said: After all when you seek out a date with a celebrity, you are in effect seeking out that celebrities experiences and stories. That is what she wanted to hear and that is what Aziz Ansari should have given her.
I meant: He would have so many worldy interesting stories to share that would make for great conversation.
You thought I meant: He is going to perform like it was stand up comedy for her and also double as a celebrity gossip machine.
See complete disconnect, I can see why there was that disconnect too.

There is another side of the equation here which doesn't get talked about a lot - the allure of status. We know why and how the powerful abuse their status over those weaker than themselves. We don't talk about why people initiate sexual and romantic relations with those who have higher status.
Let's set aside professional advancement. Does anyone think Anasari's dating life would be the same if he worked at Staples? Why does the bassist for a world-famous band have far less trouble finding partners than the bassist for a local band? Why are there far more enduring, happy marriages where the husband is significantly older than vice-versa?
This is complex stuff. But we can't understand it if we pretend that all relationships with power disparities are initiated by men.

This is a fantastic side of the equation to bring up.
The allure of status is not so much the status itself it is rather the personality traits that lead to status (Ambition, Strength, Passion, Dominance, Charisma). These are very alluring traits to people and very seductive to women. I know peeps will call me an MRA again if I say it, but really it is the allure of being an alpha male.
Aziz Ansari would not have much of a dating life at all if he was not famous, actually I am not even sure what kind of dating life he has right now in his comedic fame. I know we just finished discussing his horribly crappy date.
The bassist from a world famous band having more of a dating life than the bassist from a local band. Probably the notoriety and widespread knowledge of the band, the more people who know of you who you are the more people could possibly be interested in you. I bet the bassist in the local band is doing just fine though as long as he has attractive personality and looks.
Your next point is also interesting, I have never thought of that much before, but men who are older are more worldly through their experience and experience teaches us a thing or two. Women love mature men, men who know how to treat them, men who aren't insecure, aren't whiners, are strong and are loyal, men who can handle their own crap. A lot of women find these traits in guys who are a bit older than them. I know I am a much better man now than I was when my name hockeyboy2 made more sense.

Based on the article (assuming it's a somewhat accurate description, which it might not be), I would guess it's less about Ansari being bad at reading cues, and more about Ansari having kinks he's not handling in a good way.
Obviously just a guess, but it's a topic I'm fairly familiar with.
That is what I learned from the “exposé” of Aziz Ansari published this weekend by the feminist website Babe — arguably the worst thing that has happened to the #MeToo movement since it began in October. It transforms what ought to be a movement for women’s empowerment into an emblem for female helplessness.
