Haha Ben is absolutely getting a real hail mary to tie this game.

Liked the concept of that play, teams should purposely try that more often.

Jags might get a FG here even if the Steelers get a three and out. Tomlin not having a good game either.

Simply terrible coaching by the Steelers this game. You can look at the two questionable 4th down gambles and a terrible decision to onside kick and leave the Jags almost at FG position even if they don't make a 1st down.

You have to onside kick there IMO. One first down and game is over . Stopping and having Jack miss a FG also helps. The 5 yard penalty is what hurt cause it moves into FG position

Credit the Titans for coming prepared to play but Tomlin and Haley really wasted a great game from Roethlisberger as he make some of the best throws you will see from a QB as well as that lateral. Coaching was the main difference in this game.

No you don't. The Jags would have been punting from their 34 yard line and the Steelers would have just under two minutes to tie. You have to have faith your defense can make the stop. They couldn't afford to have the Jags recover in FG position as now it's game over.

The concept is the same though, if they get a first down the game is over. The difference is missing the onside kick means FG opportunity to end the game.

46 yards vs 51 yards for that kicker is nothing

Onside kick is a horrible choice at that point, definitely given the steelers track record

Either way you have to stop them from getting a first down (which they did). If you kick it deep and get a stop, you get the ball in much better field position and don't have to drive the entire field. Onside kick makes it too easy to get a field goal and, at best, they punt and you have to drive 80 or more yards with no timeouts.

Ideally, if they didn't get the onside kick, it would've been at the 45 yard line or further back to start the drive. You trust your defense to get the 3 and out, and keep them out of FG range, or a long distance one.

I think the call was a fair one since if they would have the advantage of timeouts and more time if they got the onside kick. Otherwise, they would get the ball back with the same amount of time.

Looks good on the Steelers and their fans. Especially going for an onsider instead of trusting their defense.
For all the Harrison stuff, Bell talking about playing NE next week in addition to already talking about his contract not wanting to be franchised this offseason, and also shows that Tomlin doesn’t have control of things.

Hard to say what would of happened without the onside kick, but the almost automatic fg the big difference at the end
