No, anger is all you have. If you had hope, you'd be encouraged by the win.

It was a good win, gutsy, but again, it was much closer than it needed to be. We tossed a 3-0 lead and won in OT.

I want to look at the positives right now (the win) but I'm not going to ignore the losing of the lead and the allowing of three straight goals.

I'll take the positives, but wont ignore the lessons.

Monahan could of had a hat trick last night. Instead he opted to pass into Ferland's skates and now Ferland is the goat for missing the net.

I've noticed (and the announcers too) that it's happened a bunch of times over the past couple games where Monahan tries a cross ice pass instead of shooting. Ferland (unfairly) isn't ready, it bounces off him and he ''misses''.

Monahan needs to shoot, shoot, shoot. Stop looking for Ferland. Shoot!!
But I also feel that if Gaudreau received that pass it would be in the back of the net. That's what separates the stars from the average imo.

Well the "star" had a chance to put the game away on a breakaway against a career AHL goalie after being setup with a beautiful breakaway pass by Monahan and he failed.

All of the "stars" are struggling with confidence right now. A month ago, Monahan buries those 2 chances and ends the game as first star with a hat-trick.

Someone needs to be telling Monahan and Ferland to just shoot and to build their confidence. That someone is probably the coaching staff and if they aren't, that's just another reason to replace them.

The AHL goalie played pretty well.

Okay, but even breakaways in hockey are 50/50 at best if they dont favour the goaltender especially if the shooter has a defencemen cutting off some of his options.

Not scoring on that breakaway isnt as egregious as people are making it out to be, that was still a hard play.

Totally agree and it’s not even close to 50/50. The NHL career leader in shootout save percentage is Anton Khudobin at .818. If you only include goalies who have had at least 100 shootout attempts against it’s Varlamov at .752. Even the 75th best goalie in the shootout, Anti Raanta, .500. You are much more likely to not score on a breakaway than score. At least Johnny didn’t go to the backhand 5 hole attempt which he never seems to convert.

On the breakaway, Seabrook was in hot pursuit, so Gaudreau had no chance to wait Glass out...

It wasn't a clear break away...didn't have any room to try a move

Thought it was amusing that, when they were highlighting Brodie's great play in the intermission, the clip they showed had him making a nice move on the right side of the ice to keep the puck in and get a secondary assist on the Monahan goal.

Of COURSE he was on the right side of the ice. Just to drive the Gulutzan haters crazy

I wish I was angry, anger is at least some emotion. I'm pretty much getting apathetic about the Flames and I've noticed a lot of other people are, too. That's worse than anger. When you start to not care about your favorite team, that's a whole lot worse IMO.

What excatly should we encouraged about this game? Another 3-on-3 win or blowing a 3 goal lead?

It's been season and a half (almost) under GG, it's clear that he's not a good coach and the Flames will be just mediocre with him behind the bench. I don't know about you but I'm tired about mediocrity.

True, but I think the implication was a big win against an NHL team.

If Gully is still around all you have is false hope.

He certainly had room to go shelf rather than take a crappy five-hole attempt
