Id rather flip Hamonic and cut our losses on those picks than trade Brodie for peanuts

I'd rather fire the coach and try to salvage the players than sell any of the D for pennies and I even don't mind GG. He's not good but I don't think there's a better replacement available right now. (Sutter would have been hired already if he wanted to be)
The only panic move this team should even consider is a coaching change.

IMHO I wouldn't trade any of Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Ferland, Backlund, Bennett, Jankowski, Gio, Hamilton, Brodie, Hamonic, Smith, Hathaway, Kulak or Rittich. Frolik and Stone I might not even trade either but would be more open to the idea of it over the others.
I like all these players and think we need to add to this group to get to where we need to be, not remove any.
We need more scoring, specifically a right hand shot who can put the puck in the net and maybe a new special teams coach other than that I don't want to trade players (outside of Stajan, Brouwer, F. Hamilton, Bartkowski) for picks.
When players like Andersson, Kylington, Valimaki, Dube, Mangiapane and Fox push for roster spots then we can start thinking about trading players like Stone, Frolik and maybe even Brodie but until then why make moves that will make the team worse?

Fair point, but I’m not so sure Hamonic sits at the higher end of defensemen. You are right that he seems more solid in his own zone but Brodie has shown he can handle the puck better. Hard to gauge Brodie’s value as he has looked so bad this year. If I could trade either Brodie or Hamonic back to the Islanders for those picks, I’d do it.

Sorry, but that would be a an idiotic trade. Trade for a pick that if they are lucky might be half as good as Brodie.

I don’t think Brodie is very good at all. But that is at the very least what i’d accept. If those Marner / Nylander offers were still on the tablle id pack his bags, pay for his flight and drive him to the airport myself

Wasn't that same thing said last year too?
At what point are the excuse makers going to admit he's not that great but gio made him look better than he is.
Good to great players who are healthy dont have 2 crappy seasons in a row.

On the flip side, his 2 crappy seasons coincide with GG's 2 years as head coach. Hmmm...wonder if there is any correlation.

...and 2 seasons not playing with Gio. Before Hamilton joined Gio, he was bad, too. I think the common thread here is that Gio elevates whoever is playing with him.
I'd like to see Gio with Hamonic and Brodie with Hamilton.

Gio definitely carries whoever he plays with. Brodie did look good in 2015 when Gio was down with injury and Engellend stepped up.

Brodie and Hamonic have more value than a last half of the first round draft pick. Anyway it's not panic time...I would bet the Flames will be re-couping draft picks but it doesn't need to happen now. Had they won Friday the convo would be much different. It not time to throw in the towel.

There was a discussion earlier in this thread I believe where people were throwing around a Brodie for Marner deal. Needless to say, if that deal was ever on the table Treliving would have paid for Brodie's Uber to the airport even if surge pricing was in effect.

As much as there's some fun in peddling Brodie off for a young potential forward star, it still doesn't address the fact that Toronto is looking for a RH defensive top 4 guy who can be a key on the PK.
As much as Brodie can sort of fit some of those criteria (plays on right side, all situations), they already have a similar guy in Gardiner. Strong skating, LH top 4 guy who can look great but also prone to incredibly mind blowing bone headed mistakes.

Brodie won't be traded until/unless Kylington shows he's ready to play in the big league. Our defence becomes pretty slow without Brodie. Yeah yeah, Gio, Hamilton and Harmonic are decent skaters, I'm a moron, GG knows best, in Tre we trust etc etc.

I doubt it.
Good players play for bad coaches all the time and don’t suddenly turn bad.

I would be pissed if Brodie got traded before seeing if he bounces back under a different coach.
