I want to see Jagr with Tkachuk, I think those two could be effective together but they need a very fast centre man which means either Backlund or Lazar (who isn't really a centre man).

You want to break up the 3M line, to see what happens to Tkachuk's fast paced, gritty game, by slowing him down while Jagr tries to maintain possession along the boards?
Worked well for Bennett and Janko, and Johnny and Money, should definitely do wonders for our 3rd and 4th highest scorers.
What part of Jagr's game do you see helping Tkachuk's?
The part where he loses possession of the puck along the boards, or the part where he maintains possession of the puck along the boards until he can pass it into the corner, or to the point? Because I don't really see either helping Tkachuk drive the net or take shots off the rush.

You mean the play where Stajan and Brouwer dug in along the boards, won a puck battle, and then the defenseman beat Jagr into the play to score? Because that's all the scoring they've done with Jagr on their line.
I actually liked Jagr on the 4th line last night though, he did elevate Stajan and Brouwer's game. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Stajan and Brouwer are both decently skilled, with good IQ, but like you say, sink other players, and that's because they are slow and can't keep up. Jagr fits right in, but brings more skill than Stajan and Brouwer could ever imagine having, so he's able to create chances for them. Leave him on the 4th line, if he can actively help make Stajan and Brouwer better, that is the best possible spot for him. Why would we want to slow down our 3rd and 4th best scorers in Tkachuk and Backlund when we've seen the results Jagr has had on the 1st line, and the 3rd line.
If my assessment is way off, enlighten me with your assessment of Jagr's game.
I thought Brouwer and Jagr played really well together. Poor old Stajan (who I love) was the play-breaker a bunch of times. But the only other C options are Familton and Lazar and I don't think they are an upgrade, especially in that in that board work, pop the puck out to the slot style.

Maybe, but once in the zone they are pretty good defenders, and Jagr as a decent stick too. The D just has to be aware of positioning and not get carried away when the puck is in deep with those guys.

Agree with both, Defense definitely need to be aware when that line is out to stay low and get back quick.
However, Brouwer and Stajan are # 3 and 4 for TOI shorthanded, so the coaching staff definitely trusts them defensively in their own end. Pretty sure they're smart enough as a trio to not get themselves caught deep to often, plus they should drive possession pretty well, with Jagr on the boards, so long as Stajan and Brouwer forecheck hard.

They are slow af, however, when Jagr is able to dictate the line and what they do, good things happen. Brouwer and Stajan were like his little sidekicks yesterday and actually did a really good job playing with Jagr.
Small sample size? Absolutely, especially since we basically played against the Sedins + Utica Comets. But, I really liked what I saw last night. For the first time this season I could say we had 4 legit lines rolling.
