The multiple wide open nets that were missed were bad, but the worst part about that game was seeing Brouwer on the powerplay late in a tied game. That alone should prove that GG has no business being a head coach in the NHL

Why is a S/O win better than a tie? This incessant need to see a winner in every game is weird.

Well crap, I guess we need to find us a coach that can alter reality so his players don't miss wide open nets.

Wild 2 Flames 1 (SO)

- Great start but not rewarded
- Fourth line looked pretty good
- Monahan will be seeing empty nights in his dreams
- Solid road effort

Hahahahaha, there it is! I need a game the flames miss 3 open nets and lose in the 5 round of the shootout, blame the coach!

On a more serious note, a poor power play encourages the other team to take liberties throughout the game.

I just don't understand why I hear the name Brouwer when we're on the PP. It does not make sense. Hamilton and Gio can pretend to be forwards in the 1-3-1 better than Brouwer can pretend to be a d-man. They both have better puck skills and better shots. And better play reading, and reaction times...

I'd prefer to see Stone on the 2nd unit for his shot most of the time anyways. I don't even think that we really need to add scoring, we just need to let the backend know when it's ok to go full Hartley. Those defense rushes really make the defenders think twice.

But the power play looked super dangerous and just couldn't convert. It's not like the wild were looking to kill more penalties out there because the flames power play sucked. Did they take any liberties after the goalie interference penalty?

It was a good game from both teams. The Flames had a great start, played a tight defensive game, and missed plenty of open nets. I don't think I've ever seen that many posts or missed open nets from both sides. It had to have been around 10, especially in the 3rd and OT.

Glad we came away with a point at least. 6/8 in the last 4 games.

4 out of 6 pts in a difficult week of travel/road games with a home win in between?

No problem with that at all.

I disagree, the 3rd PP was the best looking PP. Honestly I don't know why people keep bringing up the PP. They had plenty of chances to win without the pp. Honestly the missed opportunities were higher quality chances you would get on a PP, they just failed to capitalize.

I thought they made this change too, but it's not in the rulebook. They did explicitly allow spin-o-ramas for a while and then reversed that with an explicit ban.

This was also a goal.

Flames get a huge PP at the end of the 3rd. Better send out ol' T-Bro with 0 goals.

No, it's even worse because they have it in the medal round. It'll be a really sad day if the NHL ever decides to use it in the playoffs.

Argh! Ferland missed a sure thing there! Monahan wins the game on almost all those 3 on 3 chances 99.9% of the time! Then Smith had the tiniest gap open on that SO goal and it squeezed in ...thanks a lot GG.
