Default Peeing in Public in Calgary now against the Law

what are you supposed to do walking home after the bar now?

Fighting and spitting is also outlawed

When I get back to Calgary over the holidays..get really drunk, spit on some dude outside, causing a public fight, and after that's done, rest for a bit on a bench at Olympic plaza, with my feet up, and eventually find a nice bush to take a long a leak.

Yeah I'm so surprised it was "legal" prior to this...in Cali, you get a hefty fine for doing so....its funny how many people pee into the ocean, but there are cops patrolling, especially Huntington Beach and they always catch em.

Wow, and in this article about the new law in Calgary, it's also against the law to put your feet up on public benches? What about the homeless who use those benches??

It wasn't....there are provisions in the criminal code that could have dealt with this.

Really, all that changed was adding stuff like this to the by-laws. Now transit cops and by-law officers can actually write a ticket instead of being told to fata off.

I'd imagine indecent exposure in public would cover it off, but still.

Just another law for the sake of making laws...city council trying to make itself look useful. After all...less than a year until the next elections.

I subscribe to the theory that in order to introduce a new law, any legislative body should be required to repeal 2 other laws. That'll quickly stop this self-propagation of the bureaucracy.

If this gets one fewer toilet-taker on the LRT great. If it gets rid of loiterers at stations that women may walk through at irregular ours (or any other hours) great.
Boil it down, if you aren't doing any of those things, it won't effect you.

I think one of the reasons they wanted it a bylaw is so they could make some cash ans not send people to court.

I'm pretty sure these laws were brought in strictly to target the growing homeless population in the city. The "no feet on the bench" is the one that tipped me off.

I see what your saying.....as it is not an automatic court appearance. Some one can still fight the ticket in court however.

Weird how this is a big issue down South.

You snuck that one in there almost unnoticed, you sneak!

Besides, isn't the problem here that the weapon in question is, well.... UNconcealed?
