Although I dont think Micheal Richards rant in any way racist. I'd imagine the people he was talking about did some stuff during the show to reallyn annoy him and make him mad, people dont just blow there tops off and throw slurs around for fun.

To the poster that said they were suprised richards was still living after the show, puhhhleeeaassseee.

I think the black man calling mike a honkey cracker should be taken in the same context as mike calling the black man a *****r.

After all its all the same isnt it? A racial slur?

Thats just my opinion anyways..
Anybody who throws racial slurs around for "fun" after being teased or ticked off needs some serious anger management counselling. And I am not just talking Richards, I am talking in general about any individual who behaves this way.

Its a racist remark....if the intent is malicious. Which in Richards case is clear...it most certainly was.

The word itself is not necessarily that though. Its a way of identifying a minority, albeit in a really crappy way...and one I would never use myself.

I live in an area that is 25% black and hear the term used way too often for my liking. By both whites and blacks. most of the whites using the term do so without even thinking about it...just the way they were raised. That in no way means they "hate" black people nor are they "hatemongering". Though there certainly are those that do mean it as such.

The blacks use it both ways as well. I hear it alot, though i have to admit the older they are, the less likely you will hear the word used in either way.

Do I think Michael Richards is racist? Nope. I think he snapped and lost control. Being in the business he is in, he has had to of met hundreds of minorities and I highly doubt he hates any of them based on skin color. I guarentee he is sorry about it today, if not the second he calmed down.

this doesn't excuse his actions of course, and this episode will be sure to follow him forever.

I agree. I had a falling out a few years ago with my brothers ex girlfriend who is black. Although I was p***** at her, not once did the issue of her race come to mind ... it's absurd that race even has to be an issue. Like my dear late dad used to say "We all bleed the same colour, we're all the same inside."
I think it's pretty apparent that Micheal Richards true colours were showing.

And that is where it all stems from, the home, and how you were raised. Children are not born into this world to hate and discriminate for any reason. Those are learned behaviours.

I am so glad you had a father who was such a great role model. My father was the same way.

I will tell you a story about my father, and that is why I myself will not discrimate against others on the basis of race, sexuality, religion, whatever. I come from rural Saskatchewan, and there are not many people of the "other" color in that province, especially at the time I was growing up there. My family was in Sears one time, waiting for our order, and there was a man and his family of the "other" color waiting for his order too. Now most of the people in attendance there were just staring at this man and his family and it was a most uncomfortable occasion.

My father made a point of going to that man, and taking me and my sisters with him, to talk to that man and make him more comfortable.

I will never be able to fill my father's shoes, but I try in my daily life to treat others with respect and dignity. And that is what it is all about folks, being tolerant and accepting of others, no matter how they are different from you. Don't forget, you are different than they are too.

We should learn to celebrate our differences, not to be afraid of them. We should learn about our differences, instead of trying to make everyone like us. And when each and every one of us finally say, discrimination or prejudice of any sort will not be tolerated in my back yard, I will teach my children to be tolerant and respectful of others, I will defend those who are being unjustly treated because of their differences, then folks, the cycle of discrimination will finally be broken.

I have. Just not one based on age, gender, or race. Those types of remarks are best left for the ignorant.

Well put Barnes, we all get mad......most of us dont resort to sterotypical and hateful remarks though.

I'm still buying Seinfeld Season 7 tommorow. With Kramer in all his glory!

Anyhoo, i've been hearing/reading that for like 10 minutes before Kramer went off, they were calling him cracker, ect through his set.

Not excusing Kramer as he clearly blew a gasket but if that's true. I dunno. He made a huge mistake no doubt about it and should've kept his cool.

Why does anyone care?

Anywho, this thing is getting alot of press tonight. Just showed a clip on Larry King just then.. looks like he is on Letterman tonight via Satellite to apologize etc, Jerry Seinfeld looked like he was actually on the show.

Do you have the link of where the fans said that? I'm just curious as to what was said.

Because, regardless of his mistake I still enjoy his work and will continue to do so.

Nothing in stone no, just from comments from people discussing this stuff.

It is pretty convenient to throw the video on Youtube right when he goes off, what about the tape right before that happened? I mean for him to get that upset and go that far, they had to have said something really offensive to him.

Again, no excuse nor proof but something to think about.

To answer your question, i've got no links.

His Laugh Factory tirade began after the two clubgoers shouted at him that he wasn't funny.

Veteran publicist Michael Levine, whose clients have included comedians George Carlin, Sam Kinison and Rodney Dangerfield, called Richards' remarks inexcusable. Comics often face hecklers without losing their cool, he said.

"It's never seen anything like this is my life," Levine said Monday. "I think it's a career ruiner for him. ... It's going to be a long road back for him, if at all."

Well it seems he wasnt provoked by racial remarks, or even provoked much at all.
