Does it make a difference if the b is capped or lower case?

I'm actually amazed that it opens firefox at all. I'm not sure why it would do that. I've not seen Microsoft programs load anything but IE in Windows. Did it load the page in IE 7 or firefox correctly when you had IE7 installed or do the same thing?
If someone else has any information on this, they should jump in.

I didn't have Firefox installed while I ran IE7.
Everything worked good though...as far as I could tell..while I ran IE 7..and 6. Now my whole computer has a problem.
Its also loading repeated IE 6 pages...after I click on my inbox while logged into MSN.

I guess I would see what happens if you uninstall firefox. Will it work in IE at that point?
If it does try installing firefox again and see if the same problems occur. I don't think it should open the firefox window at all unless you have some add on to IE or MSN Messenger.

Yeah..I'll try that.

This just started to happen... When I open my homepage, which is tsn.ca, it always says the "504 gateway timout [code=DNS_TIMEOUT] A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup." this also happens with my other frequent websites I go to, im sure it will happen to cp soon. Other times when I try to go to a site it says I typed .com.com or .com.org on the satus bar on the bottom eventhough I only typed .com. I deleted my cookies via ad-aware and it still happens, and Ive restarted my computer a couple of times. What else can I do to try and fix this? Thanks.

Okay..I tired uninstalling Firefox to see if it would fix the problem...and when I click on my Inbox through MSN...with only IE installed..it gives me a window that says Application not found.
Then it opens a blank IE page...but doens't do anything.

Okay, this is starting to make more sense now. It seems to me that somehow when uninstalling IE 7 MSN is either looking for IE7 still or used a file that was removed when IE7 was uninstalled. I'm not sure if uninstalling MSN and then reinstalling it would work but that is definitely the problem.
I've yet to come up with this exact problem anywhere but the last post in this thread looks like it may have an answer http://powwow.omgili.com/viewtopic.php?p=610

Funny how so many people are having problems after uninstalling IE 7.
I'll try uninstalling MSN.
EDIT..I did the uninstall/reinstall of MSN..but still have the same problem. After reading through that link you gave me..I believe my problem exists within IE 6. Its probably missing a file...or something...but the only solution so far..was on a dutch site...and I don't feel like translating.

I've got two working computers. The one I'm typing on has internet access. The newer one that is fully internet capable (it was earlier today at another location) will not connect to the internet. It's a DELL computer that was hooked up to a Shaw connection this morning and working fine. Now it will not work at my house with a Telus connection. I figured there were some hoops to jump through to get Telus "installed" or whatever to receive the TELUS internet. I was told by the Telus nerd that I was wrong and it should just work by plugging in the modem. That's it. Just pull out the old one and plug in the new one and all should be dandy. I think he is wrong and after 45 minutes on the phone and no internet access I still think he is wrong. Is he?

Connecting through a router, or directly through the modem?
If it is through the modem, telus keeps track of the MAC address and only allows 2 of them at a time to be registered to your account. EIther the tech should help you (sounds like a useless rep) or you can alter it yourself at the OCA address (there are different onse for different areas - mine is at https://cesium.ab.tac.net/cgi-bin/oca2.cgi)

Thanks but that doesn't appear to be it. From the Telus end everything looks hunky dory and they (two of them now) say it's a problem with my browser. The thing is though that I know this exact computer with exact browser was functioning properly in another house yesterday morning.
It's connected directly to the modem and all the lights on the modem are in order. The connection works perfectly on the old one (I'm typing on it after all) but not on the other one. The Telus guys looked at MAC address and all that stuff and said everything is in perfect running order.
This is goddamn frustrating. I don't want to phone one of those damn geek squads but my will is being ground down.

I decided that I would download movies for my little sister instead of spending $30 on them. But it is in a BIN file. How do I open this into Windows Media?

Have you thought of using System Restore to go back to before you had these problems.

It sounds like your default browser has been set to Mozilla. I don't know how to fix that but maybe poking around in "internet options" might be the spot.

QUESTION:
Why do I have no sound?
A couple hours ago my laptop was playing sound. Now it won't. WMP, Winamp etc all seem like they are playing okay, just no sound is coming out. Windows says the sound card is operating properly. Laptop speakers and headphones both not working. Volume is up, nothing is muted.
WDF is happening?
Only thing I can think of is somehow something within my laptop came disconnected or I got some sort of virus that only causes no sound.

Fixed. Somehow. Don't know how.
Although I had reset my laptop a couple times, I turned it off and left it off for a minute before turning it back on. Seemed to do the trick.
Would still be interested to hear what might have been the problem, for future reference.

If you're using IE6, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connectons -> Lan Settings. Turn off all three checkboxes.
Also, Shaw's DNS servers are flaking out right now. The two (probably really only one) DNS servers I'm assigned were down last week for about five hours.
