What’s silly is being upset forum software can’t protect you from yourself by getting baited into responding to something because you can’t let someone on the internet make a statement you don’t agree with without getting incensed/feel compelled to reply
Haha, where'd you get that I was upset? Can't protect me from myself? What in the nine hells are you even talking about?
My point was simply that a function people are recommending people use does not function as it should. If someone choose to put some clown on ignore the feature should do its job and should not need to fret a out seeing something they've actively went out of their way to not see.

You're better off simply "scrolling past".

Still does not negate the fact that a tool on the site does not serve its intended function. Especially since it's being mentioned as a use to self moderate. I find it actually mirrors much of the issues with the mod team and why this thread exists in general.

God forbid a legitimate observation be made about a function people are recommending using.

I was under the assumption that you were complaining about a known limitation of vbullitin, and advised users not to even use the best known system of avoiding reading posts that they dont like because of the off-chance that they will be quoted

i dont know who you are ignoring that they get quoted so much as to make the funtion useless, but I would guess for the majority of people ignore does the trick in 90% of cases

Even if you can see a quoted post, so what? You have to scroll past one post out of 100 now, big deal

Just some suggestions:

1) Use reports should be anonymous (some of Jiri/Wild GM's comments and actions highlight why in this very thread).
2) Reports made against a specific moderator should not be allowed to be reviewed by that Mod. I reported a Mod once who went back and edited his own post.

You've suggested users drink antifreeze and that you'd like to punch them (RIP Phanuthier). But you don't take things too seriously? Okay...

Honestly you're the biggest hypocrite on the site. You constantly insult other people and thank posts that do and then whine about this? Puhlease.

what this site is missing is the fiery insults from LannyMcdonald blending with the classless yet hilarious classics from fotze. Then we are still missing peter12, Cowperson is a shadow of his former self and the good ol' days where Jordan or whatever the hell made a complete ass of himself. Even MrMastadonfarm, who for sure liked to pick on people such as me, should be welcome back. I thought he was a total ass but I actually liked him and thought his sense of humour was hilarious.

Now those were some good times. The Thanks feature and watering down by the mod team is commendable but I wouldn't say they go too far. This place is like kindergarten compared to what it used to be.

I feel like I'm 80 years old writing this. But what an amazing event it would be- a spectacle of the ages- if the mods sent out invites to all banned previous posters just for a one day event to mix it all up again.

It'd be busier than trade deadline day.

I remember the mass PM sent by, I think, LannyMcDonald as he was being banned, saying how good of a poster each recipient was and inviting them over to his new site. Must have been a decade ago.

There was some fast response time there by the Mods, things were cleaned up fast.

CalgaryPuck's only attempted coup I'm aware of. But then there was also that post about Bingo being a paste-eating troll. The difference being, that was funny. The coup was taken seriously by a few.

I know I have never used the report feature and never will. My question is, how many time have I been reported?

I had lunch with a westjet pilot last month and he said he was banned from here by an asshat mod who couldn't take his politics in the off topic forum, He said said the place needs a free for all or no rules forum to blow off steam.

That's called Reddit, a place for badposters with no self control and a penchant for ugly formatting.

Peter12 was the only guy on this forum I ever truly wanted to pull a Jay and Silent Bob on- that is, track him down at his house and kick the ever loving crap out of him.
