No. There is no good reason to jettison Stajan to the AHL. He can stay in the press box for the entire rest of this year or the balance of the rest of this year.
Freeing up 3 million in cap space is definitely one good reason.

You can only bury 900k of that in the AHL. Your not saving anything significant once you fill that roster spot with a replacement level player. So unless a trade happens or retirement, your eating 3 mil. An nobody is taking Stajan without giving a bunch of salary back.
Only question remaining is if he takes extra butter.
Aside from a couple nice scoring chances from Bennett and Janko in the 3rd, that was by far the worst bottom 6 performance I've seen this season and our bottom 6 has been complete a** for like 90% of the season.
Fun game to watch though

think bennett and jankowski both hit posts in the 3rd too...

hate to see you after a loss, but hey welcome to the forum

Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing game. Monahan's first career hat-trick, Johnny continues to dominate, Versteeg's "F*** you Elliott", etc...
But it's obvious how we were completely saved by our top 6 this afternoon. Our bottom 6 did their best to screw us over today aside from those 3 great chances in the 3rd from Janko and Bennett x2.
What a game by the top line. Johnny was flying out there and Mony was his boring self (awesome hat trick). Ferland looks really good with them and just gets to the open spaces.
Brodie definitely had some gaffs -- looks like he's thinking too much and doesn't want to make a mistake, instead of just playing his game. I'm sure the chemistry will continue to grow with Hamonic.
Two of the goals on Smith were seeing eye shots and one was on the PP with Couturier in close (selfish penalty by Versteeg).
Frolik with Backlund is magic -- 5 seconds with the puck and it's in the back of the net. It's nice to see Elliott continue his stellar play.
