Funny how he’s looked elite when playing on the right side. Maybe Glen should adapt and not stay married to his lefty/righty fetish and put a player in the best chance to succeed.

What are you talking about? That's not negative. That's the truth. Even the 960 guys have been discussing the poor defensive play. The only difference between tonight and most games this season is that the goaltender isn't bailing them out. The team really needs to clean this up or they aren't going anywhere this season.

At the very least, we have 2 days off again after this. Maybe Smith will be ok by then...

They did say he'll be rejoining the team in Philadelphia. *fingers crossed*
Would be great to see Lack stay in the game and lock things down though.

If the flames win 3/4 they will win the president's trophy. Have some effing perspective.

I get the feeling Smith will pretty much will himself back into game shape in short order. Dude is a competitor.

OMG. STOP!
It's been more than a year since the change was made. He's pretty much the same player he's always been. Even back then, he was prone to mistake and poor ability to clear the front of the net. I think he's better overall now than he's ever been, but he still has the odd game where he looks poor.
People need to move on from this lefty/righty thing with Brodie. It won't make a difference... AT ALL.

Detroit scout was on the way to see Datsyuk and he saw a Calgary scout at the airport on the same flight going to see Datsyuk.
They couldn't make the flight because of the bad weather and Detroit took a flyer on him anyways.

It's also on the players not to allow grade-A scoring chances. Im very confident if Mike Smith is in net he gives up 3 or all 4 of the same goals that Lack just did

This period is not entirely on Eddie lack but you're going to have to make some saves here and not just the saves in which Detroit just shoots the puck directly at you and don't need to move to actually stop the puck. Honestly I'm pretty much done with Brodie his boneheaded defensive gafs far out way his offensive upside. He's just become to costly to this team.

So when did Brodie become so bad? That guy is not reliable at all anymore. You notice him for bad mistakes that usually end up behind the net moreso than good plays that's productive for the team.

That's not being "negative" though, it's what this club has been doing most of the season thus far. Smith bailed them out a few games and lately they have outscored their foibles defensively.
Its been a problem all along and saying so is nothing short of just adding to the discussion.
Brodie has been absolutely brutal...making mistakes that would get you benched in junior.

Severe weather prevented the Calgary scout from getting a game to watch Datsyuk. Red Wing scout made it and they were able to draft him. Something like that.

Yeah exactly. A year since Glen forced him to play on the left and he doesn’t look like the same player he was when he played with Gio on his offside. Hell, when Gio went down he still looked great playing with Engelland. Bury your head in the sand if you want, but Brodie is a vastly better player when he’s on the right side.

Even though I don't think this is on Lack, I would have started Gillies this period.

I don't know what kind of goalie Lack is but I do know that organizations need to lean on their back ups at some point so the coaching staff needs to show confidence in him. Because, if you don't show confidence....well this happens. If the coaches don't see it from Lack in practice then they need to get him up to speed. My fear is that by the time GG gets the coaching and teaching figured out the season will be over.
What kind of start to the season would Janko and Kulak have if they started the season in the NHL. Would they have helped the team get off to a better start? If we are not going to use our back up then bring Rittich up. Oh and isn't part of coaching a team to make everyone feel they have value in preparation for when you need to lean on them.
