Jagr openly being "scared" at his return and risk of reinjury isn't exactly sounding like the best idea. Never having had the injury and missed in more games here then he did the last few certainly had him appearing down.
He's certainly not the rainbows and sunshine thet I think the press thought they were getting. Hopefully this is just another case of him being extremely hard on himself and trying to get over the fact that his body is 45 not 25.
1 goal and 1 assist for #68 tonight.
I really think he just needs a solid game, where he pots a goal on a good shift. He seems like he's not sure if coming back for another year was a good idea or not, and needs a good game to set his mind straight.

I think we're so used to 'player speak' to the media that it's odd to hear someone being so open and honest, kind of how he admitted in his introduction presser how he wasn't in game shape and it's going to take him a bit to get to speed. I'm sure all players feel the same way when coming back from an injury, just a bit different hearing Jagr actually voice that concern.

How much of this is Jagr's keen sense of gamesmanship?
After Game #1 when interviewed he proclaimed that Connor McDavid was unstoppable and could threaten to score 150 goals this season. Since then he has scored 2 goals in twelve games.
I think this is likely as much about reducing pressure on his line mates, and lulling opposing players and coaches into a false sense of security than it is about his own feelings.

Yeah I’ve really noticed that Jagr has a slightly different method with the media than most players. His humble willingness to remind everyone that he’s a crippled old man all the time is refreshing.
