The CFL does not operate from November to March. It runs from June and to November.
Like 2-3 games a year are at risk of crazy cold vs 7-8 nice spring/summer/fall games where we should be outside. We spend enough time in the winter indoors in this city and watching the Flames indoors. Football is an outdoor sport and should be enjoyed outdoors.
I'm assuming you're not a regular Stamps game attendee?

Problem is the most important games are the coldest, players feel it too.

Yup, definitely an issue but no where close to worth it to stuff the fans inside on a bunch of beautiful spring/summer/fall days.
Indoor CFL football is a terrible idea conceived by people who are not even Stamps fans...or owners who want to make more money at the expense of Stamps fans.

It's actually a great idea, if you have the option to do so. But if you enjoy sitting outside in cold temperatures for hours, have at 'er. You do you.

I'm sorry. But I'd sure hope 90% of a Flames hockey forum would rather keep the greedy hockey team they enjoy watching play hockey than the greedy tech company that provides zero entertainment value.

Honestly, when did the CFL schedule move to November-March?
Sorry, Muta. I know you were part of it, but CalgaryNEXT was a travesty for Stamps fans. An absolutely terrible terrible idea.

Purely personal experience, but unless it's plus 25 or more, any outdoor sporting event is less enjoyable. The experience was fun, but if the heritage classic came here again I would likely decline attending.
It's not very fun to almost literall freeze your butt off while sitting on a metal bench for over two hrs.

A good example of a new arena benefitting a city would be the Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The existing facility the SECC although completely functional was outdated and not up to spec in terms of what’s required now to put on a wide variety of shows night after night, plus sports. The arena has helped regenerate that part of Glasgow (finnieston) with restaurants/bars popping up, house prices rising and booming hotel business.

I mean, Edmonton is a good example as well. That's a lot of money in development around that arena.

Except Edmonton is a horrible example. The Ice District completely canabalized future development around Hyatt Place in Edmonton.
This shows what studies around sporting arenas always show, which is that they don't bring new development, they attract development that would have occurred elsewhere. In Edmonton's case this was around Hyatt Place.
This means that instead of development occuring at Hyatt Place and generating property taxes for the city to use, the development shifted to the Ice District and property taxes are diverted by the CRL to pay for the Oilers arena.
I am glad that we have a Mayor and a public that doesn't ignore facts and spend money solely because of the civic pride an NHL team brings.

It’s not massive size wise though, generally more flexible and ticket prices for the events are probably $15-20 more than what they would normally be. Main point being, every major artist has pretty much played it. I would guess you don’t get as many artists through the saddledome as the venue doesn’t have the correct rig etc installed for the modern stage set ups?

This whole arena saga has really soured me on the Flames. I just don't care about the team as much as I did last season, or even around the draft.
I was excited for the season to start at draft time. And now I just don't care. I haven't even watched a game yet.

No one is arguing against the need for a new arena in Calgary. The issue is funding.
Who is going to pay for its construction? Who is going to pay to operate/maintain/upgrade it during its lifespan? Who is going to receive the revenue generated by the building?
