Anyone else feeling betrayed that Jagr is publicly praising McDavid? Like he got all blushy as if he was talking to the prettiest girl in his high school, wasn't happy to hear it.

He wasn't wrong though. McDavid dominated that game last night. Hate him all you want, but the kid can game.

Better to be honest and prepare for McDavid, than coach with your head in the sand and not be prepared.

We all know he is the real deal. The fact that he is an Oiler is a terrible reality. If he was a Panther or Sabre or whatever, we'd be happy and not caring he's the best player since Crosby.
The media doesn't make it any easier to swallow either with the hype train a rolling and shining squarely on our most despised rivals.
The scenario sucks, no reason to deny the players ability though.
Besides, Jagr is right. He could score like Gretz with the way the rules are today. Whos gonna catch him?

I dont blame him. From the moment that joke of an organization fluked into that player we saw this coming. Its a brutal reality but we have to figure a way to deal with it. Hopefully it drives and motivates the Flames as an organization even harder to keep up and prevail.

Can't deny McDavid's skill. He's nothing less than a generational talent. That said, what bothers me is the media's selective amnesia in pretending the past never happened. Moreover, Oiler fans acting as if the team was built upon great management, drafting and player development. The reality is that they were gifted multiple first overall picks--and managed to mess those up--while having the next best-player-in-the-world fall to their lap. Now all of a sudden, they are the model franchise to be celebrated? Personally, any success they have will always have an asterisk. If this was a professional football league in Europe, the Oilers would have been relegated to the AHL a decade ago.
End rant. I suppose I'm a little irritated after watched McDavid singe handedly dismantle us last night.

Jagr the professor. The young players of the Flames are going to pick up so many great tips from this living legend.

The (hopeful) word that he is feeling better already after today's practice, and, tomorrow evening at 8 pm, can't come soon enough.

Steeger said Jagr looked great to him ~ I think if Jags comes into practice today feeling much better personally then yesterday he might get the itch to start Saturday. Pumped...!

Praising an opponent isn't betrayal. It's a setup. Get them overconfident, avoid bulletin board quotes, make them think it's just a game with friendly opponents. Then watch their surprise as you crush them.

Yeah, the Oilers are the slacker who wins the lotto then brags about his business acumen. Yay, you won. Good for you. But don't toss it in my face like you actually did anything to earn it. And no, losing for a decade doesn't mean you "earned" or "deserved" anything.

How great is it that we got Jagr with his vintage flow too. This is the most Jagr'ey his hair has been since his Pens days, love it.
