They haven't done it yet because it's only been one season and one game into his 4 year contract. As hard as it is to watch, you still have to give him this season to see if he can work through it.
If this season is as bad as last year, I think Treliving will bury Brouwer in the minors or maybe claim he has a heart injury and put him on LTIR.

True Brouwer wasnt the the sole reason we lost but he's not the solution to the problem either.
He's killing his linemates though and Bennett and Versteeg deserved better.
Jankowski needs to play ...,.heave ho Brouwer needs to go.

True enough, but that doesn’t change the reality that championship quality teams don’t pay very bad hockey players 4.5M a season. Championship quality teams flat out don’t employ really bad hockey players.

I wish I could be more optimistic about Brouwer but I can't. He's a floater who can't keep possession of the puck. He's not strong on his skates, he's extremely slow, and does not hit. I truly see no hope for him. It's a god damn shame we played him over Janko last night.

He had the first hit of the game last night. Can we not criticize the guy accurately at least?

Seems like the wizard Treliving gets a lot of passes around here.
Personally think he's overrated. He's made some re ally bad signings (Grossman, Glass, Brouwer) keeping Stajan in the NHL. Forcing Jankowski down because of the bad signings.

No, of course he won't be sent down. He might get scratched, he might get benched, but he won't get sent down.

Treliving has had some misses to be sure and they’ve been pointed out on here. But I’m not sure his misses outweigh some big wins. He’s made some pretty shrewd trades and signings. Generally every offseason he’s put together a solid team on paper... executed all his offseason goals.
Guy can’t play the games too. You do your best research and guesses as to who will contribute but when the player doesn’t contribute the way they have in the past I’m not sure that’s as much on Treliving as it is on players like Brouwer.
Brouwer doesn’t look like he works very hard. That’s on Brouwer.

Brouwer signed that retirement deal and is now in semi-retirement. 3 more years of this? No way, without vast improvement this guy is a buy-out candidate. How ugly would the buy-out be after this season?

Absolutely. Raymond's buyout goes off the books after this year as well, which is $1.05M.
The Flames free up $3M for the next 2 years, re-sign Backlund, and Stajan comes off the books. The only penalty is $1.5M the following 2 years when all other buyouts are off the books. I do that all day long.
The 4th line should be Glass - F. Hamilton/Lazar - Hathaway. This line would have energy and grit.
Jankowski can be the first call-up to replace someone on lines 1-3. That way he can play with skilled forwards and develop into that type of role.

Guy has no poise at all. That 1st goal was a direct result of him panicking and rushing and coughing up the puck behind the net. On the 3rd goal, I don't know what he was thinking, but he rifled the puck off of Versteeg's skate who was about 5 feet from him. Very little poise to go with his poor skating and general ineffective play.

Remember when Hartley put Wideman in the press box after a poor showinng the year he put up 54 points?? That’s what needs to happen to Brouwer.
At one point he was penciled in to be opposite Johnny/Mony when we originally signed him - how he’s going to be given 4th line minutes making 4.5. He as a player should have enough pride to give a crap about that but I just don’t think he does and I want him gone.

It's simple. Troy Brouwer is not an NHL player.
I can't believe how bad he got going from St. Louis to Calgary.
He has to be bought out after the season.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Jankowski - Jagr
Lazar - Stajan - Ferland
Hathaway/Glass

Gah, don't get me started on his "A"... guy is a Calgary Flame for all of 5 minutes and they slap a letter on him? Why? Certainly not leading by example on the ice (on that note they need to put that "A" on Backlund).

Then someone really ought to walk up to Brad Treliving and explain to him that a businessman doesn't become a billionaire without understanding the concept of a sunk cost.
It'd be easy to justify it to Murray Edwards... what will be hard is justifying it to himself (and/or Burke) someones ego would have to take a light bruising.

Brouwer is an absolute failure of a free agent signing.
1. he lost his job on the 1st line
2. he mercifully never got a chance to screw up Backlund's line
3. he is actively ruining the 3rd line on a nightly basis
4. Hathaway belongs on the 4th line, so there's no spot for Brouwer there.
So, Brouwer should be traded, waived, or health scratched for the remainder of the season.
He hasn't earned a spot on any of the 4 lines, and is actively hurting whatever line he does get played on.
On the ice, he's just awful.

The Flames need to make room for both Jagr and Jankowski.
Brouwer and Stajan likely need to go to the press box

This right here. Flames need to load up that first line and run with Bennett on the wing. 4 solid lines right there.
