Who was it a couple of years ago. Sent down because they could and bring him right back? Hope they are not doing that with janakowski.

Calling all fruits and vegetables, we need a big-bodied pineapple on the team who can take a punch. We have a pineapple already, but we need you to out-pineapple him. The pineapple spot is yours to lose.

Not without risking every other team outbidding them during the regular UFA negotiating period. CGY expressed interest. Their negotiating window was only if they were willing to take the player as their pick.

No it really wasn't. It was them deciding they liked Engelland best (which I think is fair, I think he was the most valuable player we exposed) and getting him while they were guaranteed to be the only team other than the Flames who had negotiating rights.

Agreed. I don't think Stajan or Brouwer have good value. I just think your reasoning that their values are in any way connected to the expansion draft is completely invalid.

I'm willing to bet a deal happens with either: Vegas, Pits or the leafs

One or more of Stajan, Brouwer or Kulak will be gone with a prospect.
 |
Thought the same perhaps Brouwer or Stajan is in play with Jagr arriving.

He signed a 1-year deal for $1M plus a potential $1M in bonus.

That doesn't seem like much of a risk when the player jumped all over what many would have considered a bargain bin deal.

He wanted Vegas very badly. The facts support that view.

Can I assume that this means Troy Brouwer is NOT on the ice?

Pat Steinberg @Fan960SteinbergOn Hathaway, #Flames can assign him to Stockton anytime in the next 30 days without him having to clear waivers. Some flexibility there.

Glass, Hathaway, and Gazdic all bring very similar styles of game to the table. 5-10 minutes a night of grinding hockey with a fight thrown in here and there. If one gets injured, the next guy gets thrown into that role.
