I have no doubt that Backlund will show up for Game 1.... thats why I think just to discount this game....they don't seem to care...

Flames might be guilty of taking this Canucks team lightly and should have come to play a little harder. If we can score one in the third that should get the guys going.

I'm liking what I see from Smith. High compete level and very athletic for his size. Brings a different element with his puck handling, sometimes it feels as though we have an extra d man back there.

First, the obligatory “it’s only preseason guys...”

So far, through two periods, the Nucks (a team everyone believes will be a lottery team and is not dressing its two best players, and is playing its first game back since travelling from China) >> Flames (a team dressing basically its full roster except for 3rd or 4th line fodder).

Their goalie has been better.

Their PK and PP have been better.

Their defence has been better.

Their passing has been better.

Their compete level has been better.

Their hockey intelligence has been better.

Flames need to start taking things seriously, or next Wednesday is going to be another opening night slaughter.

He has been good. But let's not forget he has still let in a soft goal which seems to be an ongoing thing from our goalies in recent years

Actually I do. You really think the vets are giving their all here? I don’t and I’m glad there not. Getting a needless injury now, to try and win a preseason game would be asinine.
