Travel Gift Cards/Gift Certificates?

My mom's birthday is coming up, and I would like to buy her a travel gift card.

I found out that Air Canada's gift cards are not valid for packaged vacations, which is somewhat limiting.

Westjet and Expedia.ca don't seem to offer gift cards at all, which is a shame.

I know that Flightcentre offers GCs, but I have always thought of them as being a bit...sketchy.

With all that in mind, is Air Canada the best option, or are there other good choices for travel gift cards?

how about a visa gift card, or give her a homemade gift card for travel and tell her when she is ready to book you will throw down cash or your visa

If she is a Westjet traveler you can buy her Westjet dollars and have them added to her account.

WestJet doesn't have physical gift cards but they do have WestJet dollars and WestJet Travel bank, which is typically created when you cancel a flight (they don't give refunds). Those are two options I would look into

There is this great product that can be used on all airlines, hotels, and cruise ships. It never expires, and it holds its face value (without calculating inflation. It's called cash. A substitute for cash would be a cheque. Put it in a card and tell her to book wherever she wants.

An "IOU" for a vacation might be nice, but depending on how humble the recipient is, they might never take you up on it. I would try to figure out a destination that your mother would like to go, and plan a trip and invite her along. Unless you don't really want to pay for her entire airfare.

I just saw that Westjet is now selling gift cards/certificates which might help you out. You can order either a physical gift card or an eCertificate.
