That is correct, I had no idea that was part of the construction so it was awesome to find that out.

Speaking of wildlife. I just about turned a squirrel into pathkill this morning. Those buggers never learn

I went by there around 5:50. Yeah, that hill is great for picking up some speed. However it's still fully dark when I go and I've been riding my brakes the whole way down. That being said, it only took an extra 30 seconds more than my personal best on that stretch.

A cyclist crashed into a skate boarder yesterday or the day before on the bow pathway around Centre St. The cyclist was hurt badly I think.

the report indicates the cclist has life threating head injuries, so to me that would suggest he was not wearing a helmet. if he was not, then that really underscores how important wearing a helmet is, even if you are just out for a pathway crusie.

if eh was wearing a helmet and still sustained such a sever head tramau then that must have been quite the accident.

That was a gorgeous morning ride, 16 degrees at 0615? Heck yeah! Although anyone else noticing the giant clouds of aphids and such that you ride into in the last few days?

Had to put my sunglasses on in the dark, they were everywhere.

I wear clear glasses (safety ones actually) for morning rides once it starts getting dark.

I have clear lenses, but I'm too lazy to put them in.

I noticed more aphids yesterday on the ride home - I too have safety cglasses for the dark; however, my riding glasses make me look 18% more bad@$$, so I tend to ride with those on.

Noticed that a couple of scholls were back at it yesterday with buses lined up in front of them as I passed by on my way home.

I got sick of changing lenses, so when my 20 year old Smith Sliders finally broke I picked up polychromatic lenses. I am hoping the go transparent enough for dark mornings. So far, so good at 6:45am.

Fuzz, I was about 85% sure I was riding behind you on 10th street north (past 5th avenue) around 4:15 yesterday. I peeled off to go into Sunnyside (and ride under the rainbow).

Ha! I saw someone coming up in my mirror behind me, then burn a right. I thought I was going to have to kill myself up the hill in the smoke and heat to stay in front, so thanks for turning. I let off the gas when I saw you go.

Man, with all the construction there it's a huge bottleneck right now and there are so many people using that area to the peace bridge. Can't wait for the construction there to be finished. The little asphalt path they have is not sufficient.

How are you going to get home now bigtime?

I love making the Peace bridge part of my ride home, so I may take the detour to the south and then backtrack to the bridge and then head east to Sunnyside. Or I'll be lazier and stay on the north side of the Bow for my rides home until the closure is done.

With the zoo pathway closed this whole year basically, what route have people been taking?

I'm not a big fan of cycling up the C-Train station ramps etc. into Bridgeland, I'd rather take a straight road. I've been going Edmonton Trail into McDougall Road and then either Abbot Ave climb or uphill on St. Georges Dr and then down through the Zoo parking lot just to get onto the pathways that are on the other side of the old zoo pathway. It's a bit of extra climbing but there's no real choice.
