Strava now says Fitbit is connected, will see what happens after I log my ride home today.

I find that my phone and watch connect to each other most of the time even though my phone is in my backpack - but somedays my phone needs to be a the cargo pocket of my shorts to work.

I guess this was a morning where it needed to be in my shorts....

Yeah, I'd look awesome in bib shorts with no shirt on, fat spilling over. Outstanding!

I did see a guy a week ago near the riverwalk, he was so skinny you could count his ribs when you were riding behind him. Yech.

I've seen enough attractive girls in sun dresses cycling, that I'm very confident to say they'd look excellent if they were topless.

Anybody ever order from chainreactioncycles.com? I'm looking to pick up a set of clipless pedals and they seems to have the best prices far and above any LBS. Or does anybody have any leads on a cheap set?

When I was actually in shape, I sometimes rode shirtless when it was super hot out, but never anywhere with major traffic. More the "might run into a half dozen people" situation. Ride for a while, take a break and read by the side of the trail in the sun... Good way to get a base tan.

be prepared for them to impose duty on this. I ordered shoes back in july. the shoes were $120 - duty wound up being close to $50. whiole I could not have purchased the exact same shoes, I likely could have purchased something similar for the same total price.

some whatever reason, shipments from jenson do not attract duty, but the process can take as long as two weeks.

I try and support local LBS - and limit my bike interent shopping to two times per year for stuff that is on sale, or a cheap dropper post from overseas.

Duty depends on the shipping method used. The paid duty option is likely UPS or Fedex's premium duty inclusive global express method.

The next option for delivery by Canada post is much, much more unlikely to attract any duties/taxes unless opened/inspected by customs.

The last couple options are all standard cheaper UPS/FEDEX. You can almost always expect duties if you ship cross border using a courier service rather than the postal service because of private customs brokerages.

I've also gotten dinged for customs on delivery by Canada Post, but agree is much less likely. Doesn't it depend on category of parts/apparel you're ordering as well?

My father's words of wisdom from when I was a teen, "It is never the ladies you want to go topless that actually do."

I've ordered a bunch of stuff online twice now. First time it just showed up at my door, second time it was just GST and a processing fee (box was listed as "bike parts", which was true). Still saved about 50%.

Part of my issue (and air is a good problem to have) is that I generally get as much as 15% off at Cyclepath, so when everything is considered, the price of a lot of items is a very similar price for me.

One of my purchases from CRC came via Canada post and I was hit with duty, and I believe the last one came from DHL. beacise of this, I have ordered more stuff thru jenson, as it arrives with no further bills. Next time I order from crc, I will pay more attention to my shipping method selection and the result.

I'd like to see the price of tires and brake pads come down. To me it seems ridiculous that a mtn bike tire can be $90 - I believe there are some smaller car tires selling for a little less.
Of course the on-line stores also offer some doll little things that an LBS can't stock

came across a downed cyclist this morning at around 6.15 am on the bow river trail right at the bottom of the hill by the baseball diamonds.

seems he had a close encounter with a deer. in all my years of cycling this pthway I had never thought of that happening there where you can easily get up to 45 kph. from now on I will be yelling as I go down the hill in the morning.

the cyclist seemed a little rattled, as one would be after biting it in the morning. his bike looked ok except for his handlebars being tunred at an odd angle. I offered help, and he said he was good.

I spooked a buck one afternoon going past the zoo. He charged out into the river where the ice was very thin. I was worried he'd get stuck but it was pretty shallow and he ended up being ok.

In almost the same spot, I almost collided with one of the wild turkeys that escape the zoo all the time. That would not have ended well for either of us.

Speaking of the zoo, the path is still closed, but I think they might finally be putting the pathway under the Baines bridge so you don't have to cross the road anymore.
