You'll notice that Paul Stastny was on the list. He was re-signed by the Preds, however we didn't realize that by signing him and Hutton it put the team well over the cap. Given that a number of teams have given up significant assets to clear space, we think it is only fair to release Stastny to the UFA pool. The Preds have and had the room to re-sign Hutton so he remains on the team.

In full transparency, there was a question regarding another team signing their UFAs who are now over the cap. That team was under the cap when the players were re-signed and only exceeded the cap as a result of trades that were made after that.

Time's up, folks.

The Islanders made significant bids on Brouwer, Eriksson, and Stastny. We expect to land Stastny (we likely overpaid) and hopefully one of Brouwer and Eriksson.

Was thinking about bringing back Brouwer, Johnson and Boychuk who were all big parts of the CPHL Oilers last season, but only put a bid on Johnson, while also putting bids on Eriksson and Stastny.

I bid on Hartnell, Abdelkader, and Brouwer.

I'm thinking that I'll have the best shot on Hartnell and Brouwer. I'm hoping that I get something out this.

Rangers bid on Boychuk, Johnson, Brouwer and Chimera. The 2nd batch is when offers can get somewhat crazy.
