Unless you can completely shelter MDZ ie keep him on the bench or eating popcorn you'll regret it. He's good on the pp, garbage at every other aspect of the game.
Meanwhile Stone is actually a defenseman.

Sure. But one of those two can actually play defence, and that tends to cost a little more.

Isn't it the exact same contract?

Damn, the Canucks are pretty busy today. Still trying to figure out if they are a rebuild mode or just comfortable in making playoff now. Mind you, the guys they signed so far are younger than 30s. Not sure how old DelZotto is.

Not going to expand on it but Del Zotto has some off ice issues.

They are trying to fill out a roster. They are "comfortable" with making the playoffs like I'm comfortable winning the Kentucky Derby (and I'd love to win the Kentucky Derby but it's just not in the cards since I don't have a horse).

That's because Burmistrov is a 4th liner, and is in the decline of his career.

If you were going to buy $9 million dollars worth of poop based fertilizer at $25 dollars per 50 pound bag, that would be 360,000 bags or 9000 tonnes of poo.
Instead the Canucks got about 600 pounds of poo for about 9 million bucks. Bad value signing. Their signing will also stink a lot longer

He's only 25.
Also he put up 14 points in 26 games after being dealt to the Coyotes. Those are good 3rd line numbers, and if that is what he turns out to be 900k would be a steal for a solid 3C.

You have to hand it to them for their ability to analytically make the Stone signing look worse.

Typical signings by a rebuilding team that doesn't have enough good young players to fill out the roster. It lets the Nucks leave players in the AHL until they are ready and gives them veterans to flip at the deadline in 2 years.
Without Miller to steal games and with the Sedins a year older the Nucks will be even worse than last season. I wouldn't be surprised if they barely finish ahead of Vegas.

What is funny is that nearly every Canucks FA signing since the beginning of October 2016 has been met with the fans as "good contract, should be able to flip for picks at the trade deadline".
It's like the fans can't wait to get rid of the players.
