14 teams lost a defenseman to Vegas. This on top of the list of teams that need to upgrade means Stone will be a hot commodity. Probably the 3rd or 4th best D available. He will get $ and term.

Makes sense he wants to get paid although Friedman is a pretty unreliable source these days so who knows.

14 defenseman can't play in Vegas though, I think Stone will just be one of many on the market.
And what's up with Friedman lately, even one year ago he wouldn't dare post a crazy rumour like Brown for Phaneuf. Sportsnet get after him to post drivel for ratings?

tre has gone after reclamation projects in the past. Versteeg wasn't able to get deal with Oil. Bartkowski was late addition from minors? That Swedish mess we had to start on D last season. Who are we not thinking of that could be a fit? Franson maybe but im betting something less obvious than that even.

Certainly not surprising, but as of this weekend family friends indicated he very much wants to stick with Calgary. It probably doesn't happen now as he will likely have a couple million reasons to go elsewhere.

He was never going to get $4.5 million from the Flames regardless of the Hamonic situation.
Really, the offer on the table should be in the neighbourhood of $3 million, otherwise let him walk.

I could still see him coming back.
First of all I don't think him wanting 4.5 is that bad. He has to shoot for something and that would be his ceiling. A team like the Habs could come in and pay that being desperate.
If not, I bet Treliving scores him on a longer team deal for closer to 4 Mil per (hopefully a little lower)

I wouldn't pay a lot for a 5 spot defenceman. Especially considering how much money we have tied up on the back end already. That said, Bartkowski is not the answer and Stone would want too much, unless Tre works his wizard magic. Need an upgrade on Bartkowski around the 2 mill mark... 3 at most.
