Happy with this trade, we really needed a guy who can step into the top four. Hamonic will do just that. The window is now and we need to go through the Oil. Can't do that without the deepest D.

This trade is a lot worse than the Hamilton deal. It's a lot better than the Griffin Reinhart deal.

I forgot the Flames had an 2nd in the 2018 draft, so that's an ignorant win.

Going to miss the first round pick though. Hopefully the Flames can still sign Stone.

Our window is well defined now. The big issue is that our goaltending and wings aren't matching the state of our defense and centres. And we still have a bunch of bad cap money. For me this move comes a year or two early. Howver the picks we gave up were unlikely to make an impact before JGs and Brodie's contracts are up so it isn't much of a loss in the window that Treviling has defined.

I don't mind the cost, I don't like the timing.

Demers, Franson, etc are all available for a much cheaper acquisition cost and are good enough.

That's because there's a pre-existing deal in place with ARI, that if CGY makes playoffs in 2019, ARI gets CGY's 2nd rounder.
