Biggest surprise might be low # of goalies taken by Vegas.
Well played in terms of stockpiling picks and additional pieces.

As it sits right now....Vegas has just under 74 million in cap hits for the upcoming season.
 Only Chicago has more.

Forwards for Vegas are better than expected but goalies and d-men are worse than anticipated.
Will be interesting to see how trades play out tomorrow

I don't think he was pissed. He just didn't seem to care. The guy has 3 cups, 2 Conn Smythe's and won the Hart a couple of times already. I doubt he'll cry himself to sleep losing this one.

Vegas will not trade the following: G Marc-Andre Fleury, F James Neal, D Derek Engelland, D Braydon McNabb and other players they picked and invited to show up to the Expansion draft. I also think they will keep some young guys like Reinhart, Pickard, Berube, Marschessault, Pulkinnen. The rest are all for grabs on trades including Methot and Emelin.

But...Vegas should with 30 players.

The other teams are currently basing cap on 23 or less players.

Why would McPhee trade Neal? To get back premium young players, prospects or picks just like most of the deals he's made so far. Neal is an UFA after this season, VGK is likely to trade him this summer or by the deadline at the latest unless he actually wants to extend his contract

What could the Flames possibly offer in return? Earlier I speculated maybe a 2018 1st or 2019 1st. Maybe a package around Kylington. Dunno if it makes sense for us with Neal on an expiring contract. We have the assets to get him, but at what price?

Are you suggesting he doesn't want more picks? Cause that's silly talk. Clearly they want young players, prospects and picks as any building team should.

Crosby remains the most valuable and best player in the NHL.

To be fair, the Conn Smythe should have actually gone to Kesse last yearl. He was a game changer for that run.

Also - I'd rather have Vatenan or Lindholm than Theodore and Stoner.

No kidding. Theodore was hot garbage against us in the playoffs.

This is the case with a few of the trades Vegas made, but especially with Anaheim.

One would have to figure that the Knights will likely go with "foundational" type players with their picks to try and get players that could eventually emerge as cornerstone types, sort of like the Jets with Scheifele as their first pick.
If they keep #6, 13, and 15, I would not be shocked if they went with Glass or Middlestadt with their first pick, and then any of Petterson, Necas, Andersson, Kostin, Foote, or Liljegren that happen to fall to their next two picks as they have the highest upside of any of the guys from 7-15. If Kostin is available he will go to Vegas guaranteed. GMGM loves Russian players and already has a number of them in the organization.

If Vegas does not accept trade, Murray opens it up for Vaatenen and Lindholm to all NHL teams. Murray holds the cards and played it well.

Lindholm was protected and was never going to be available.

Did you mean Manson? I view Manson and Theodore as pretty close in value. I'd take both over Vatanen.

Also as pointed out before by SureLoss if the Ducks/VGK didn't work out a trade then ANA likely buys out Bieksa, trades Vatanen, protects Manson and Silfverberg and then VGK gets crap all.

Murray wouldn't hold much leverage though.

He would hold all the cards....because 20 to 25 teams would make serious offers for each player.
