With just 10 of their rumoured selections they're at roughly 47% of next years cap. That's also based on Haula's and Leipsic's previous cap hits. Add in Clarkson's 5.25M and Theodore's 0.863, they're at about 40.957M / 75. Ouch.

I still wont be surprised if its Stajan he takes.

1 More year left on the deal...the cap hit is higher than the actual money to be paid out, he is a solid veteran that LV will need at least a few of and most importantly, he is a C which are hard to come by.

Also he will be easy to trade near the deadline as a depth player to a contender being he wont be owed much at all and their is no commitment past the upcoming season.

As the Vegas Golden Knights draw closer to revealing their expansion-drafted roster on Wednesday night, general manager George McPhee has confirmed that the team may not see all of their selections stay with the team beyond this week.

Per Yahoo Sports’ Greg Wyshynski, McPhee stated at Tuesday’s press conference that the team may make some ‘throwaway picks’ from franchises that don’t have much to offer, meaning they’ll grab some restricted free agents that they don’t plan to qualify.

This only applies to a select few teams. Many of the league’s most competitive rosters had to give up at least something good when they formed their protection lists, exposing at least one quality skater to the newest expansion franchise.

Don't hang this in Calgary Puck. Tinordi is one of a small handful of posters who manages to find a way to see the worst in everything involving the Flames.

Or it means that Vegas wants mostly younger players. Orm if they are older, more years left on their contract. Or that the Flames have even better players available. Or that the salary is a little too high even for one year.

Stajan is a good player, and had a good season. From start to finish, one of the most consistent guys last year.

Yeah, but painful is relative. Teams have had to give up 1st round picks and roster players - the Flames will have to give up their eighth defenseman.

Saying that losing our most NHL ready young cheap depth defender is no big deal when the entire bottom half of our defence is completely vacant is the definition of glib.
