Does this come down to cost?

Did the Flames simply think a re-design without their direct oversight would be too costly?

Reminds me of the 04-05 Lockout.

It's about the logo on the front, not the name on the back. And not about the shoulder patches. And definitely not about the piping.

Yeah, I'd love to know the story behind this as well. Not sure how it could possibly be a money issue, more like they just didn't care about what the fans might want to buy.

The blue on a red, black, and yellow jersey ugliness aside, does anyone else find the Alberta flag dull and boring? If it was cool like the flag of Maryland then I would be happy to slap it all over the jersey.

That would be sad considering many fans on this site made better designs for free. And would probably have been happy to hand over said designs for a autographed jersey and a couple Dome foams.

I have sadly come to expect that they would screw this up, and they did. It has a Senators vibe to the whole affair. They could do something great, but somehow never do.

Well, look at the bright side. 2.13% of fans on CP are going to be relieved on jersey reveal day.

I'm still holding put hope for the minor tweak to remove the piping.

But I also thought the 30th anniversary patch might be cool...

I'm looking at the promotional ad with hatred.. yet contemplate whose name I will purchase on an authentic. I'm such a walking double standard.

They're just teasing the shoulder patches so that we'll go ape-#### when they reveal there is no more vertical piping!

Personally I would just get rid of the black trim on the white C and be good to go. But a great example of a design concept KK could have for free. I had a good chuckle at the twitter thread for the reveal, not one positive comment. Might be an even worse blood bath tomorrow.

I'd probably lose the black around the C and the black piping, but otherwise that's beautiful. Would buy.

the funny thing here is that the alternative jersey from a few years ago had quite a few flaws, but I really liked the alternative shoulder logo that is used in this design here. If they had at least used this in the new jerseys instead of the flags, I could at least get behind it.

I'd rather have piping than shoulder flags. They're stupid. Everyone knows this is a Canadian team, and quite frankly, the Alberta flag is effing ugly.

It's the one thing about the Oilers that I'm jealous of. (Could care less about McDiver) They gave their fans some retro jersey love with a twist, clean and flag free. I mean, they should after so many years of suckitude.

The Flames' mngmt need to get their heads out of their butts.

Is there still a sliver of hope the piping is gone?

At this rate I'll just be happy if they don't have a snot-horse made of piping stitched on somewhere.
