Jarnkrok's agent confirms that he has been protected:https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...aft/405959001/
Assuming Nashville still used a 8+1 protection scheme to protect 4 d-men, that means James Neal has been left unprotected.

What about possible forwards from LV? I heard James Neal might be available? Play him with Johnny and Monny. Not sure about giving up more picks.

LV looks like they can have a really solid team, no big stars but a solid team.

James Neal has only one year left on his deal and I think he's bit overrated by some. I would not give up more than an average prospect for him.

Will the protection lists be released soon? I can't remember if the NHL was keeping them a secret or if there is a scheduled announcement time.

He's a pretty easy forward for Vegas to market though. There's a good chance he'd be the best forward on their team by a fair amount.

Thanks. You'd think they would just release them right after the submission deadline especially considering the possibility of leaks.

Yeah for sure, they should be able to get at least a mid-late 1st rounder for him in this draft or next draft if traded at the trade deadline. I just hope the Flames don't pay that cost.

I don't see any way it could happen cheaply, but acquiring Pysyk and Neal would be pretty awesome.
 Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
 Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
 Ferland - Bennett - Lazar
 Versteeg - Jankowski - Chiasson

 Bouma/Stajan/Hamilton

 Giordano - Hamilton
 Brodie - Pysyk
 Kulak - Stone

 Wotherspoon/Bartkowski

 Smith
 Johnson

To my understanding both Pysyk and Petrovic were protected by the Panthers.

They could sign Oshie as UFA to be their big name player. He's one of the more well known American players.

Recently Talon said he wasn't asking Yandle to waive his NMC, that means one of those two had to be exposed.

Unless... did they go with the 8 skater 1 goalie protection format? That doesn't seem right either though, then they'd leave Bjugstad unprotected.

Does demers have a nmc? If not they've gambled on them not taking that contract on, which is wise IMO.

Marchessault or Jokinen for the knights then.

If the Panthers went 8+1 to protect 4 d-men (Ekblad, Yandle, Petrovic, Pysyk), then likely two of Bjugstad/Smith/Marchessault have been left unprotected.

They have an insider at HF (who has broke stuff before) saying that they indeed left Smith and Marchessault unprotected.
edit: so nothing official but I've seen other stuff be true from this guy before

Friedman says the upcoming Eberle trade won't be liked from the Edmonton perspective:https://www.fanragsports.com/news/fr...-taker-eberle/

I don’t know if we’re going to like the deal as much from an Edmonton point of view, but I do think they’re going to find a taker for him because I think someone is going to say, ‘With a change of scenery, we can use those 50 points.’
“Edmonton is just going to have to be creative to get it done.”

I'm not an Eberle fan, but I would even trade Brouwer for him. I sure hope Brouwer gets his #### together next season.
