Seems a bit forced too with that statement. Sounds the opposite of drafting the BPA

I love how we get to look at what the Oilers did with their arena, take note of the reception and criticisms and then go out and build an upgraded version of it.

My bad, for some reason I though Heberg was a Shark pick.
I was using SJ as an example of a team that had a bunch of good young goalies at the time.

Calgary has 350000 more people than Edmonton, and that gap is widening.
Either way, it seems like Calgary should have an upgraded version.

City proper, which means nothing.
The Calgary census metropolitan area has 75,000 more people than the Edmonton CMA, and that gap is not likely to widen while the economy here is in the toilet. The difference in size is trivial.

I'm not sure trivial is the right word. But you're right in that it's not massive.
For example, let's say of those 75,000 people, it represents about 18,000 homes (aggressive? maybe). Anyway at an average of $2,000 /yr property tax that's like $36,000,000. So not trivial I would say. That's like 3/4 of Lethbridge.

I'm preparing for the worst on all accounts. Ugly as sin jerseys, bad draft picks, and an arena that looks like a barn. I really have little faith anymore that this organization is competent at anything. Mediocre sums up this franchise.

I asked, he said "a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could, if a woodchuck could chuck wood".

was not suprised to hear Poirier was gone to substance abuse. Thats what I thought since day one of his leave. I'm guessing it was cocaine/ mdma for as long as his leave was( been there done that).
Glad to hear the team is supporting him.

Bennett (jokingly) goes "Well, you'd have to look at that trade." Treliving says "It wouldn't be one-for-one, pal."
|
The fact that both Burke and Tre got on the phone with Bennett to dispel this rumour shows how much they really think of him - Bennett is not going anywhere!

They can say they are high on him but I can't see him becoming a good NHL player. It is not the skill in question, I think he has lots of potential. He can't stay healthy though, every season he has injury issues. He reminds me of a less skilled Martin Havlat.

It was mentioned in the jersey thread. There was a person that asked who had say in this round od Adidas jerseys and King said the it was all the flames. From the sounds of it confirmed pretty much nothing changes. He did say that he foresees the retro becoming the primary in the future. Who knows when that will be, maybe when we get a new arena (just me speculating).

That's my guess.

I think that kind of proves their point though, you draft five, miss on 4 and find one.
The key then is picking the right one, or at least keeping the right three and letting them develop until one emerges.
The Flames had a Ortio vs Brossoit as an issue, and took Ortio. Thought it was a good move at the time, now it looks like potentially neither of them are the one.
Currently its McDonald (fading), Rittich (rising), Gillies (learning) and Parsons (young and dominating)
They need to pick the right one, and move on from at least one of the others.

Yes, but remember, according to Brett Wilson the City and the Mayor are "doddling".

I can't remember if it was Burke or Tre but one mentioned that Kesler wanted absolutely no part of Bennett in that first round series
