Yeah... but none of the guys they drafted should require much more then slot. It's not like they're taking heavily recruited preps with a full ride to Vanderbilt.

True, but they may do so with some of the guys from rounds 11 on, which they can apply that excess cap to. If not, then your guess is as good as mine.

I wonder if the Jays will give Jason Leblebijian a look soon. Having a strong year in AAA at the plate.

We don't.....ever. 30-50 games a year doesn't cut it.
Time to either move on completely, or at least try him in the outfield. Maybe that would help him out a bit. Less pivoting, way less beating up on the body than playing infield.

Playing him in LF wouldn't hurt, and would probably improve things overall. Just sucks seeing him be the Sami Salo of Baseball.

I'm surprised more posters aren't watching this one, big game with a chance to get back to .500. That would be a huge accomplishment after that horrid start.

Went to shower in the middle of the second 0-0 and come back two innings later and we're getting pounded.
Estrada has not been great lately.

They just refuse to get back to .500 or out of the basement of the AL East.
Getting sick of this crap.

They look to me like a .500 team. Under-achieved in April, over achieved in May. Can easily beat anyone on any given night, but not good enough to consistently win series. It's an aging team that loses a little each year. Probably should have been a .500 last year as well, but the pitchers all had career years and we all got excited thinking it would happen again this year.

Might be. They do seem like a team that can go on a serious run though too.
Pitchers all didn't have career years last year either. Only Happ and Sanchez did really, and Sanchez was 23 so it's not crazy to think he's on the up swing. More than anything they stayed healthy.
This year has been the complete opposite. An absolute disaster with injuries.

A team that can't produce runs without hitting 3 home runs a game is not much of a threat to go on a big run. Too easily shut down by a good pitcher or someone who just has all the right stuff going that night.
This team hasn't given us "We just can't lose" vibe since the year we first acquired Tulo, Price, and co. They limped into the playoffs last year on the back of fabulous pitching and required a wildcard game against another fundamentally flawed team in Baltimore just to do that (basically their mirror image of the Jays).
Good team for sure, but I think we've overrated ourselves. I hope I'm wrong, but I can see ourselves getting into some trouble when we start getting a steady diet of AL East teams again.

Yeah, I agree the offense is still too boom or bust. I feel like if they go on a run it will be because the pitching gets healthy and they carry the team on a +600 run for a month or two.
