If your standard of what constitutes an effective interview requires the subject to fully and frankly answer all questions, including those that will incriminate himself and those that are likely to get him fired from his job, there is no such thing as an effective interview, and you need to change your standard.
An effective interview gives you insight into what the subject thinks or believes, not all this stuff you are saying.

You seem to be suggesting there is no point in asking tough questions in an interview. I guess we just disagree. Maybe he totally evades the question which in and of itself is insightful.

And if the subject's job depends on not telling what he thinks or believes about his boss, what then?

I'm saying that ‘Is ownership meddling in hockey operations?’ is not a tough question, but a stupid one, because nobody with a sense of self-preservation would ever answer it. If you want to find out whether owners are interfering in hockey ops, an interview is not the way to do it.

Would be interesting to get Brad's view on Burke's comments regarding moving. Considering his experience with a franchise; struggling for fan support, having low revenue, and thier ongoing arena diffculties.

That would be doubly interesting, actually. Treliving also has experience with getting governments to pony up money for new arenas in markets where his league wanted teams.

If there were two of him, I'd want to put one exclusively in charge of getting a new arena deal.

- Treliving doesn't think the flames make the playoffs without the Stone trade.
- Lazar better player than what they would get with the pick
- likely picking with the 16th pick, still lots of time left though
- Don't tweet trade rumors after a 36 hour shift at Tootsies.
- Belarus sources are probably unreliable.

My god Rumor Break hit the jackpot. An NHL GM is having to shoot down this rumour.

I love the comment about being able to swing at a high upside player at 16.

A weaker draft overall - take a chance on the high risk high reward player.

Sort of. Boomer and Pinder brought it up laughingly and he played along.

I thought it was interesting when he said you are likely to get a similar player at 15-20 as you would at 35-40. Called it a 'tight' draft.

Clarifies that if the Flames trade Elliott's rights, or re-sign him for next season (before or after July 1), the Blues will get the Flames' 3rd round pick next year.

Treliving hints that Parsons may be better off getting starts in the ECHL than going back to the OHL.

Anyone else get the feeling that Tre wants to bring back both Elliott and Johnson?

Well he can bring them back, but if they fail and the Flames miss the playoffs I see a new GM in 2018-2019. So I don't know why risk it, bring one of them back but not both.

If he really believes that, they'd be all over trading down if they could.

No. I feel he's simply not closing the door.

Treliving confirms they would like to have Versteeg back, talked to his agent recently.

Has higher priorities with goal tending and blue line but will get back to him.
