For a whole hour?
We should make a drinking game...
1: Every time he uses the word "Process" take a drink
2: Every time he's asked about a players on ice performance and instead references "the room/dressing room" take a drink
3: Every time he uses the word combo "good fit" or "right fit" take a drink
4: If the hosts fawn over Nashville, the Nashville fans, or the Nashville Predators take a drink
5: If the hosts bring up the Ken King meddling rumors... Chug. If they bring it up and Treliving doesn't dispute it... chug.

Does Calgary media ever ask about this? Other than in a general, easy to deflect way?

Would there be any point in asking? They're not going to get anything but a deflection anyway.

Boomer and Warrener? Probably will ask him about partying in Nashville, his favorite Boston Pizza dish or something.

Seems like it is a topic of interest and something people want to hear about, they should be asking management about it in a way that gets a meaningful response. I had thought that was role of the media.

Disagree, personally i would not ask that question....
I doubt Fan960 would ask it...
I would focus the interview on the future hockey operations questions.
i.e.
Off Season plans
Expansion Draft
Free Agency
Draft
etc

If you want to lose the ability to interview these people maybe. Media isn't what it used to be.

There is no way to force anyone to give a meaningful response to a loaded question, short of torture. Nobody would be such a fool as to admit on the record that the owners are meddling in hockey operations.
The role of a genuine reporter is to uncover the facts and discover the pattern of events. This is not done by interviews. You don't rely on a defendant to admit his own guilt; the prosecution must build their own case.

Of course not... hence why they're chugs and not just a drink. I mean really... if 960 asking a hard question of Flames brass was a drinking game we may as well institute prohibition.

Huh? The only way to conduct an effective interview is torture? We disagree on that. Of course he may choose not to answer or deflect but a good interviewer will definitely get indications from their subject. Asking about ownership meddling is not a loaded question and if local media is too scared to ask something like this, that's a shame.

The guys on fan960 are cheerleaders paid by the team. They never ask hard questions.

You aren't getting hard ball questions from a rights holder IMO.

But you know answers to those questions will be fluff and the basic stock responses. We could write his responses right now.
The ownership issue seems like it could be real news and I personally have not heard it asked in a meaningful way.
I get your point but unfortunately we never really know what they're thinking in hockey ops until after it's done.

That's not what I said.
The only way to guarantee that someone will give you the answer you want to hear is torture. The media don't have the power to compel interview subjects to give the answers they want to hear.
If your standard of what constitutes an effective interview requires the subject to fully and frankly answer all questions, including those that will incriminate himself and those that are likely to get him fired from his job, there is no such thing as an effective interview, and you need to change your standard.
