I encourage folks to start threads on big deals, but I don't see why this thread is harmful

It is certainly not harmful if used properly.

It is just a little annoying seeing some pretty big names get moved and have it buried in this thread. I always liked reading analysis from both GMs on why they made the move and how they fit on their team.

I don't disagree with any of that. The intent of this thread, originally, was to provide a place where minor trades were posted as traditionally those were never talked about at all.
But indeed there has been a trend that more people are putting all their trades in here.
So let's just all agree not to do that.

Personally, I love when peopls post new threads about any trade...Mostly because it trolls non CPHL board members who are viewing the "New Posts" threads.
Seeing a "So and so traded to the such and such team", I'm guessing, really messes with some people.

It's a CP thing I find. It's like people think we have only a certain amount of threads allowed before CP is maxed out.

Yeah it is weird. My favorite thing is when people enter a thread, that is clearly about a specific topic, only to complain about why there is a thread about that topic.
Its weird.
My favorite story about CPHL and real life getting mixed up is when one of our GMs was contacted about having Andrew Ference attend a charity event.

Lol, sorry about that, corrected it for you. It makes me laugh sometimes when I go back and read some of my post. I don't see the word I'm looking at, I only see the words before and after so there tends to be a lot of errors in every post. I do a lot of editing trying to correct the errors but sometimes I also do more harm
