Better Call Saul - New TV Series 2014

I wonder how many BB fanboys have not found this show yet. It's such a great show, and I can't help but think the Breaking Bad fanboys would be going nuts over the nuggets in every episode lately. I know I've talked to a lot of random guys who'd fit that persona at parties or whatever that never gave this show a chance.

He really is a great character. The actor (Patrick Fabian) does a fantastic job here as he's got a lot of layers from charming, ruthless, calculating, sincere, etc. It's starting to feel in this season that he's the only character in the show that's really a down to earth good person.

Do we also get some foreshadowing of Howard in a car accident while drinking when he says he is fine to drive?

Gilligan is more of a Chekhov's Gun rather than Red Herring kind of guy.

I am so interested by Chuck and his mental state.

Following the trial, he is struggling with many emotions. Shame at having his illness seen by his peers in the law and by his ex-wife. He's feeling betrayed by the law, by Jimmy, by Kim, by his ex-wife and by Howard, who routinely tried to put the breaks on this and in Chuck's clouded mind, may be part of the reason the case failed. He's feeling confusion about his illness and perhaps some shame or embarrassment there as well. The construct of his illness was just exposed, and he is having a difficult time reconciling not being able to 'feel' the battery.

His animus to Jimmy might be approaching blind rage.

I think he dropped a dime on Howard driving drunk.

I have to think that by the time that Chuck made it to a payphone, Howard would have been home already, no? I mean, it's Albuquerque, how long could a drive between 2 points be? If anything, I think it foreshadows Howard getting into an accident and getting killed. Something else that Chuck can indirectly blame Jimmy for.

i really enjoyed how they illustrated Kim's second thoughts about Jimmy consistently in the episode.

When Paige, the Mesa Verde counsel, made the comment about switching the dates and the magna carta, it was like you could 'feel' the revulsion coming off of Kim. Her comment about bringing down a sick man, was also illustrative of the acknowledgement that Chuck wasn't wrong, but they were able to take enough advantage of his condition to malign his character to get the judgement they wanted.

Then in the bar, she gets real insight into Jimmy's world when he is plotting against the various people in the bar. Jimmy's vindictive side is unmasked to her again, as it seemingly was when Rebecca confronted him in his office.

The ethics conflicts are slowly unravelling Kim.

Actually, I don't think his payments will skyrocket, I think he may be denied coverage, which I'm assuming would effectively end his ability to practice law or be considered for partnership in HHM.

Does his loss of good standing impact the potential payout as partner in HHM?

I actually thought that was probably the worst episode of the season so far. Didn't keep up with the others and was kind of boring. Interested to see where the season goes from here though.

The voices are immediately noticeable to anyone that listens to the Jim Rome show as they have filled in for him a few times over the years. I kind of thought that was dick of them to have Saul bring his crew there and back out.

Did Salamanca give the slightest hint of suspicion when Nacho dropped the pills in his pocket? Camera seemed to linger for a second but there was no obvious glance.

Jimmy is almost there. Chuck is motivated. Kim and Howard butting heads.

Only two episodes left. But at least we get preacher to fill the void, then GoT.

There was some great stuff in that episode.

Great shot overhead of Mike and his metal detector in the desert.

Kim and Howard exchanging barbs - "sit, I insist".

I liked Chuck in how exact he was in rating his pain levels. “If it’s not real, then what have I done?"

Jimmy's scams are becoming less cunning and more hammy. Jimmy takes his first wad of cash from a drug dealer?

Kim taking on too much with Gatwood Oil?

Great tension with Nacho switching Hector's pills - I thought the cook in the back would notice and lock eyes with Nacho, leaving us to wonder if the cook would tell Hector.

Michael Mando’s performance here ought to get him an Emmy nomination. His Nacho is the character I now most want to escape this closed circuit of disaster, like Jesse in Breaking Bad.

My absolute favorite moment in this episode involves Francesca, holding down that receptionist desk. When Kim shuts the door to her office after leaving Jimmy on the floor, Francesca pulls out a travel magazine, only to quickly hide it again when Kim unexpectedly reappears.

Loved that episode. This show is amazing, the way they film things is so well done. It seems so immersive compared to any other show. The tension in that pill bottle exchange was outstanding.

LOL - I was thinking the exact same thing. I was racking my brain for other scenes to remember if Hector had ever been an ass to him and would nod at Nacho in agreement.

My second favorite character behind Mike. I recently bought Far Cry 3 and was pleasantly surprised to hear him as the voice actor for the Baddie.

Need help. In the previous episode Mike told Nacho to switch the pills back if he had switched them already. So did we see Nacho putting the real pills or the fake pills in Hector's jacket pocket? Gratias.
