Colorado has no incentive to move him unless a player like Brodie or Bennett is coming the other way IMO

Flames and Avs don't make good trade partners, because if you believe Sakic they want D in return for their core forwards and we have no D to spare.

I think those Av players are like the Panther players of yore and Edmonton recent wonder trio. Severely overrated. Let the Avs keep them and continue losing if you have to pay 'fair price'. Edmonton finally got away from Hall and will likely shed one of Eberle/RNH this year at less than expected.
Let someone else make this mistake.

His cap hit is heavy, and he is inconsistent. But man when is is switched on, he is on.

Yeah but Alexie Kovalev was the same way. Unstoppable when turned on, even really good in his normal state of apathy. Rene Borque was like that to a lesser extent.
But it's hard to get them to that level

I for one would welcome Bobby Ryan with open arms, but I don't see it as being possible given our cap troubles.

Yeap. But if the Sens need help making cap space to accommodate Ryan's contract I'd be happy to see the Stone bros as team mates on the Flames.

Grass is always greener. Lots of players have stepped up in a playoff year only to go right back to the inconsistent player they were the next season. In an 82 game season he would have you pulling your hair out. That's one of the worst contracts in the NHL regardless of him having a nice playoff run.

Wow, that Ryan contract is a killer, and Silfverberg's is great value. I'd be ok taking stone or Hoffman off their hands. If it helps ol' Melnyk out.
Edit: jeez Hoffman's deal isn't exactly cheap either.

Friedman now speculating Flames may stick with Elliott and Johnson for another year.
Also mentioned Condon as a possibility.
Said that after he suggested Saros last week, he got a message from someone that told him there is no way Polie moves Saros right now.
Thinks MAF will end up in Vegas.
Also suggested that Raanta is no better than Elliott or Johnson when Pinder brought him up.
Now bringing up Bernier as a possibility.

I'd give up a minor ransom for Saros, but I doubt Nashville would do it. Thought maybe we could pry Rinne, but assume that's not happening with their recent run. Right now I'd say that's the best tandem.

That organization runs like a well oiled machine.
Their drafting and development is so good, and it leads to the ability to properly manage assets and remain competitive year in and year out.

I can see one of them back but I don't see both returning. I can't see Elliott accepting a one year deal although I don't know how many options he will have in free agency. Jets may be interested in him.
