By summer 2016 he meant summer 2015 then? The teams and situation he describes certainly sounds like Franson

Also, MAF isn't a free agent, so you can't offer him your 3 year deal. You actually have to give up assets to acquire him, and then complete the remainder of his current contract.
|
Of course with the given assets. But my price was for if we could acquire his rights.
Hmm, Backstrom, Mason, Giguerre, Thomas, Luongo, Bryzgalov, Hiller (lol),
Huet, Ward, Hammond, Niemi, Lehtonen.

Maybe I'm just bad at searching, but I can't find any player who signed with Buffalo in 2016 matching this resume.

What is this list of goalies? You are acting as though you answered my question, which you certainly did not with this list here.

He is a clear upgrade over most teams' #1 goalie right now.
Teams that would have reasonable interest in signing Ben Bishop.
1. Calgary.
2. Dallas.
3. Philadelphia.
4. New York Islanders.
5. Carolina Hurricanes.
6. Buffalo Sabers.
7. Winnipeg.
8. Vancouver.
That is 25% of the teams in the NHL that currently have no signed #1 goalie. Calgary, Dallas and Philadelphia make the most sense.
If I were Los Angeles I would be willing to give Ben Bishop's rights to Philadelphia for FREE. Who cares if you get a 3rd round pick back. If you are the Los Angeles Kings you DO NOT want Calgary getting Bishop.
Calgary's realistic options after Bishop are not very good. MAF, Bernier, Elliot, ETC we are likely fighting for a Wild Car spot again.

Holtby doesn't even make your list??

That I am. Myself and one other cousin also played WHL hockey. I'm still hoping Cody can sign in Calgary this year even as a #5D. Would be nice to get free tickets to Flames games.
Also Bishop in LA was never the problem.
Acquiring rental players at the trade deadline is NEVER in the benefit of the team acquiring the player. If you go back through 30 years of deadline trades you will quickly see that big name rental players often do not contribute well. Team's that acquire the best available players at the trade deadline are most often eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.
I believe this has a lot to do with the fact players are forced to learn how to play with a completely new team using different systems. We all saw how long it took Dougie Hamilton to adjust in his first year and likewise its probably worse for players being acquired mid season.

The repeated attempts to "unmask" posters or tell posters what is wrong with them cause far more disruption than the attitude of the post itself.
It's a big world, there's going to be people who one will never agree with, or people who one will never be able to tolerate.
If you (the royal you, not one of the quoted posters) disagree with the content of a post, reply to the content. If you can't stand a poster's style, put them on ignore or use the superior ignore feature (the brain) to not read their posts and replies. If you think a poster is trying to be intentionally disruptive then report their posts and don't reply (engage the second option).

It's a list of goalies who were all Vezina nominees over the last six or seven years. Some being nominated more than 2 times. It's obviously a reply to your question. Figure it out.

Vermette, Recchi, Gaborik being recent examples. Took a 5 second google search to prove you wrong. Gaborik's 14 goals in the playoffs was as good of a return for a rental player as it gets.

Oh, Cody Franson's cousin.
Well that explains how he knew exactly what deals Treliving had on the table last year.

Don't get smart with me pal. You are the one who didn't answer the questin properly and just threw a bunch of goalies names out there.
I said slightly above average goalies don't get nominated for the Vezina 2 of 3 years.
Hiller - NEVER nominated for the Vezina
Backstrom - ONCE 9 years ago
Bryzgalov - ONCE 7 years ago
Luongo - NOT A SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE GOALIE EITHER
Ward - NEVER nominated for the Vezina
Hammond - NEVER nominated for the Vezina
I could keep going but it's a waste of my time, you just made a list of mostly average goalies who maybe a good season or two here or there and arent comparable in ANY way to Bishop.
