I wonder what they'll call the new ULCC; will it use the WestJet colour scheme? WestJet Teal?
Will it be interchangable with WestJet ala Rouge with Air Canada?

Will people be cheesed off when they find out their Calgary to Halifax flight was Tealed?

Will only Teal fly to Las Vegas?

184 seats (1-class configuration at 30" seat pitch), that's a lot of seats, wonder what they'd get with a 29" pitch.

Ha! I like your thinking about calling it Teal.
Thinking it could very much be like AC Rouge in the sense that it will be bookable via the current website with just a notification that you will be on Teal. I'd also hope to see some unique point to point flights that don't exist that may be able to go ahead.

WestJet has been getting a lot of the 738's, and with the MAX series on the way soon I wonder if this is a way for them to use some of this extra capacity that may not be getting fully utilized during the downturn.

I wonder what routes they will be targeting? Short ones like Calgary Vancouver, or longer overseas? I'd be fine with it on an hour or 2 flight but I flew Rouge to Europe and it sucked hard. I'd pay an extra fee not to suffer that again.

The only way I would take it would be a short flight, where I didn't need to take anything. Not sure what those circumstances would be. It makes more sense somewhere like Europe, where cities are close together and you may want to pop over somewhere for a night, but otherwise, sounds like just an awful travel experience.

^^^ Aww yeah, WestJet could get some C-17's from the USAF and do them up like that. |

I'd be surprised if it wasn't 189 seats; many 738's worldwide are configured this way and most are stated as 30" pitch. The 738 is limited by its exit doors to 189 seats so we're guaranteed they'll have 30" pitch. The new MAX 200 for Ryanair is a 738 with an extra set of doors allowing up to 200 seats at 28-29" pitch.

I avoid Air Transat like and Condor the plague.
No thanks to any cheap airlines unless the flight is under 2 hours.

Those pesky armrests and the legroom that is already the worst of any Canadian airline.

I'll continue to fly AC every time over these dopes.

AC Rouge A319's have a smaller seat pitch.

I'm a little worried to see what they have dreamed up. The continual downsizing and spacing is making air travel much less pleasant and for a bigger guy like me it really limits the options. I used to be a pretty big WestJet supporter but over the years they have continued to remove most of the advantages they had over their competitors and now they are basically no better or worse than anyone else.
Waiting with great interest to see what they come up with.

Depends on whether or not you consider Airlines like Transat and Sunwing as Canadian Airlines... I've been on worst than WestJet in Canada if you consider those as airlines.

Incorrect on both counts.

...they are companies based in Canada that fly people on airplanes. Of course they count.

I've actually been pretty happy with the seat spacing on the new Westjet planes. Width is a little narrow, but I never have knee issues like on AC. What I would like is a little shelf on the back of the seat to put your phone when watching movies.

I flew JetBlue Orlando-Havana-Orlando on their A321 and it was awesome. Huge amount of leg room in coach, and three bathrooms in the back! Three! Inseat TV system with satellite channels, SiriusXM, and on demand movie and TV shows. Slick.
 Bathroom comparison:

WestJet 737-800: 168 seats 3 bathrooms (56 pax per lav) Economy seat pitch 31-33 width 17
JetBlue A321: 190 seats 4 bathrooms (47.5 pax per lav) Economy seat pitch 33 width 18

 Makes a big difference.

Is Westjet having problems with it's Connect system? The last two times of flown (to and from Mesa), it was not working for the entire flight.
Was down another time recently I flew as well.

Better question is when is it ever working?

I've flown with them in Dec, Jan and Feb and had absolutely no issues with their connect system.
