Can they hire Sutter under the table to hang out in the dressing room during intermissions and dish some of his wisdom? Maybe yell at the underperforming players, kick a garbage pale or two.

Haha, I was just typing similar to yours as you beat me to it.
Can we hire / borrow Daryl Sutter for tomorrow's game, have him stand behind the bench. Let his 2004 Flames magic and his 2014 Kings magic rubs off on the players and goalie?

So, you could say, it's been done from grimmer positions than the Flames are in now.

The Kings were also cup champs in 2012 and lost in game 7 of the WCF in 2013 so that team knew how to win. The other thing is the Kings were in the Sharks head and you could see the choke job coming.
For Calgary it would come down to that game 5. If they could win that then come home for game 6 I think they have the momentum to win the series. I couldn't see the Ducks winning game 7 with the curse broken, letting a 3 game series lead slip away and having their game 7 home ice curse. It is all about winning tomorrow and winning Friday

2 straight wins, that's all it will take to get back in the series. A 2 game win streak. That's how I see it. Ain't getting my hopes up but I hope the boys just play with some intense passion. That's all I'm hoping for. Elliott can't play another game this series, when a team loses confidence in their goalie that's it. I've never seen a choke job like the one Elliott has had the last 2 games. Inexcusable. He's mentally weak and his playoff stats prove that, when the lights get the brightest he falters. Worst trait to have in a goalie

It'd be nice if they could get a chance to break the curse.
If they can win tomorrow - and that is a big if at this point - I think they'll break the curse. The Flames have already been written off as the losers of this series and the pressure will be on the Ducks to close the series out. If the Flames can get on the board early like they did last night, maybe we'll finally see some mistakes from the Ducks.
If they break the curse in game 5 they can win the series.
Lets just get to game 5 though. I'm really not optimistic about how this team will play tomorrow.

I have a wierd feeling we will mount a comeback. We just get everything together and Elliot gets his #### together and we will beat the Ducks and break the Honda centre curse. I know i will get ridiculed for this but i honestly believe we will not be swept and will not go down without giving them a good fight.
Thanks.

It is interesting to note a lot of the Ducks shots are angled from each side of the net and often directed into skates. It is a smart play because the other side of the goalie is not covered. It is the same tactic they used the last time we had them in the playoffs and didn't seem to have an answer for it. It is also an angle that is harder to control rebounds and when they do come out they often come out at the open side of the net. When the Ducks made the goalie switch I watched how they played those angle shots into the corner while Elliot seemed to try and kick them out or corral them. I think we are being out coached and played based on this very simple tactic. Everyone's talking about how we are scoring on ourselves but some of it is they way the Duck play the shots shooting for the rebound, into skates or to the man on the opposite side. Makes it hard for Elliot make the right decisions.

Maybe, but Elliott's rebound control has always been his weakest attribute. I doubt this tactic would work well vs another playoff goalie but obviously they have got something on Elliott. He has been terrible against the ducks his entire career

Game 4 - nothing to lose
Game 5 - momentum to break the curse
Game 6 - momentum is all on our side at home
Game 7 - anything can happen

If you have a chance watch our last playoff series with the Ducks they used the same tactic. And if you watch the goal they scored in overtime it is directed towards the skates but Elliot decides to kick it out and it rebounds back into the net. The Ducks have been doing a lot of quick shots from sharp angles. I noticed later in the game the Flames picked up on that and were shooting from those angles but more so right at the goalie who then just directed them into the corners. We need guys with skates standing there or someone on the other side and not always shoot at the goalie except to try and create a quick unexpected rebound. Ducks have more playoff experience obviously and they seem to take advantage of these tactics including drawing those penalties late in the game.

I don't disagree with you that it's a tactic, but Elliotts failure to make easy saves is what is killing the flames this series. His rebound control has sucked but if he saves the softy 4th goal, then the softy on the second goal, and then the Silvferberg shot in game 2 the Flames are in this series. He's been terrible tactics or not

I like the optimism, kudos to the OP. They can start with game 4.
I'll keep cheering until they're officially out. Go Flames!

I think it will go 6 at least. Win game 4 and 5 and then who knows. 4 straight against the Ducks is no easy task.

I like this thread. The Flames have been so unpredictable all season, really, anything can happen. We didn't even think we would be in a position to debate whether we will be swept or not a month ago - let's see which team shows up in Game 4. GFG.

One good sign is that each game in the series so far has been better for the Flames than the previous one. If they can hang in the series for a couple of games, they could wear the Ducks out.
Unfortunately the biggest thing needed for a good comeback is goaltending, and we're unlikely to get that

Game 4 - 5-2 win, Johnny hat-trick
Game 5 - 1-0 win, Mony in OT
Game 6 - 3-1 win, Ferly game winner + insurance
Game 7 - 4-1 win, Versteeg and Brouwer pot big goals

Most Flames thing ever would be to win the next three, get everyone high and stoked again, and then suffer a depressing game 7 defeat with at least one goal called off.
