I think he's staying in to minimize the Wideman effect as much as possible.

Have to win some draws then. Ducks win draw, D holds puck, Kesler comes on ice to cross check Monahan and slash Gaudreau.
Maybe some quick line changes.
Maybe throw Gaudreau out with another line every now and then.

Gaudreau isn't playing like a frightened child. That's something an Oilers fan would say. He's maybe lacking a bit of confidence but it's not like he's been a perimeter player as he's had plenty of opportunities in the two games and just hasn't cashed in. I'm pretty sure Hamilton has been talked to but don't think that just because he's going to try and play more disciplined that he won't be taking any penalties as by nature defensemen are put in situations where they may take a penalty. It's the ones like Saturday that can't happen.

That is exactly what he played like. 4 shots in the two games from your best player is plenty of opportunities?
If he plays like he has been the Flames are at a serious disadvantage. He needs to wake up.

Didn't even post the time OP. How will I know when and where to tune in? jk
I am impressed with Brian Burkes comments this morning. "the officiating has been fine"
I thought he would be the one calling refs out.
I'd like to see Lazar draw in somewhere. A bit of a spark and some skill.

He had an opportunity in close the other night and decided to pass it. He didn't shoot so it's not a shot but I'd classify that as a scoring opportunity, in tight.
He does need to wake up. It seems like for the first time in his career he's in his head too much, maybe the first time ever. Starting to second guess his decisions and forgetting his natural instincts. It's the same thing that plagued Bennett until the playoffs and he just started playing.
The whole scared, man against boys, etc etc is such hogwash IMO. Gaudreau has been playing against monsters who want to punish him since he started skating. Three years into his NHL career he didn't suddenly wake up and turn into a scared pussycat. He's just making some poor decisions. I have little doubt he'll return to form, hopefully before the playoffs end but it just might be one of those crappy seasons.

I try my best to keep my attitude from the results of flames games from creeping into my life.
I have been straight up mad and grumpy from the results the other night for a multitude of reasons.
Just win.

They're still in this.
If they win the next two at home, which they can do, it's a whole new series. Aside from bonehead plays they *should* have won both in Anaheim...
Win these two at home, go back to Anaheim and play non-bonehead hockey, they have a real chance.
I believe.

Gaudreau isn't playing frightened, but he's clearly frustrated. This is only his second playoff series (I don't count a terrible team like the Canucks) and he's still getting accustomed to how much less time and space puck carriers get in the playoffs. He just has to relax and play smarter. Getting last change on home ice should help.

Havent read the whole thread, but we need a change of voodoo.
If you are going to game tonight blow the roof off the place.
They're out of the Pond now, that makes them fair game.

Much as we all hate Kesler, he's not a likely Selke candidate for no reason.
Getting the Monahan line away from him should help some.

JG was setting up guys left and right last game...he is 150 lbs...he isn't gonna be a grinder, he is still great at what he does. Ferland is playing great by all accounts, he needs to bury one of these.

No Flames lineup changes expected and no surprise. Should have a had a split, could have won both. Sticking with same group reinforces that.
