Brodie is joining the rush and Kesler picks him, then grabs his stick.
Have just watched about 10 minutes of todays Blues Wild game. Have seen at least four uncalled holding the stick penalties, 3 of them worse than what Hamilton got called for.
That call was ridiculous. Hopefully there will be a discussion with the series supervising official.

BS!!! They were scrambling and so many players fighting to get to the puck. Referees made the call and we all know they think they are superior and will not listen to anyone.
seems like the puck is already in before gibson tries to glove it...
at worst, it seems like Holzer should be getting a penalty for pushing Bennett in...

Don't kid yourself they made that up as they were reviewing the play. I didn't see any indication from the officials they were calling it off for goaltender interference after the goal and skating to center ice as they simply had no idea it went in. I think they looked at the replay and the guys in Toronto said it was a goal and the on ice officials looked for excuses to not overturn their ruling.
Exactly, they simply weren't watching and didn't see it go in. Then when the Flames celebrated they realized they had to go upstairs, so the review should have been for whether the puck crossed the line.
But they figured, screw this, let's just shut down any opportunity for this to be a goal in one review call so we don't look incompetent, like we missed a clear goal.

The way this team is playing I have confidence that we will still win this series. Ducks are getting bounces and calls to win game after being outplayed. They have an AHL defence with all the injuries. Getzlaf is averaging 2 points per game. None of this is sustainable. I'm not a stats guy but my feeling is we are outplaying them in just about every important metric....especially last night.
At some point it's going to catch up with them. If it's not against Calgary it will be against the round two opponent who will put them away in 5 or less. Don't get me wrong, they're a really good team. I just think people don't realize how good WE are as well. A big run is coming our way....all we need is a spark (like a few home wins and a win in that god forsaken arena).
Get home with last change, get the top line out against rookie D and score some goals. Get up 5-1 then indulge in a little physical payback. Win all the home games and all the pressure goes back on the ducks. There will be constant reminders of their choking history.

I'm guessing the interference is Bennett's skate, but he was being pushed by Holzer. And Gibson missed it with his glove, which was not impeded. Puck was loose. I dunno. It's not like they don't have grounds to rule it off, but we've also seen worse than that ruled a goal too (LA game?). And you'd think one of these days, one of these 50-50, human judgement calls would fall on the Flames' side. Not like they wouldn't deserve to be up in the game, they were taking it to the Ducks. Would be nice to give the other side the adversity, that short end, for a change. Make them have to fight through things.
The problem for me with the flames penalties so far is the meaninglessness of them.
Brodie's crosscheck is an absolutely worthless penalty and I think somewhat indicative of the misplaced effort by the flames.
The penalties the flames are taking so so soft and inconsequential. If you are going to crosscheck kesler, CROSSCHECK HIM!
If you look at the comparison between the kesler video and the Hamilton one, which play has a greater impact in what's going on in the ice at that moment? Why are the flames never on the positive end of these comparisons? Does the Calvert crosscheck impact the series less than Brodie's?
Now, I am not suggesting the flames go out and be hyper violent, the opposite in fact, bit if you ARE going to take a penality, TAKE IT.
Is there a Better player on the flames right now than Monahan? Honourable mention to Stone.

This is exactly why GG should have challenged the goalie interference call. It was not reviewable, as the officials had just reviewed it - but it was challengeable.
What represented a go ahead goal should have been challenged, even if you feel the probability of winning it is less than 50%.
Is the challenge reviewed by the NHL control room? And do they have access to this same overhead video? That really looks like a good goal.

Ugh.
And thats just it. Yep its a penalty. Both are penalties. But if your group of officials across the continent aren't going to call that type of play consistently, don't change the standard in the last 6 minutes of a tie game and call it.

Yes, I totally agree. The past 2 games the team didn't play bad, they lost because of the Ducks' luck or lack of luck for us and the refs (their incompetency) .
The Flames did not get out played badly, the Ducks scored 6 goals, 2 or 3 of them get deflected in by the Flames.
Come home and win the next 2 at home to tie the series, then if this series is to 7th game, let's see the stupid Honda curse stronger or their can never win a 7th game curse stronger.
Outside perspective. I'd say the interference was chiasson pushing Gibson which pushed the puck into the net. Looks like interference to me.
Then the refs did you a favour by telling them it was interference and you didn't waste your challenge on something that wasn't going to work anyways. If you had to use it later you'd be glad you didn't waste it. Thanks refs for the heads up.

Very hard to win when 2 goals is all you can muster offensively. The Flames no longer get physically rag dolled by the Ducks like they used to. But they do need to find the edge and not get sucked over it.
2 really bad goals against early doesn't help either.

He didn't challenge because the ref told him Toronto already reviewed it.. but what they didn't tell him is that they didn't review the goaltending interference they reviewed if the puck crossed the line with the net pegs still on the ice.
