Haven't seen a replay either but it looked like, at most, incidental contact followed by a Burrows level dive.

I guess Francis is just following the clicks following GG's post game comments on the goal call back. But I think its barking up the wrong tree.
My only question about the interference aspect if if Bennett's leg was in the crease "illegally". Thats where it gets blurry for me, I thought a player had the right to be in the crease if he was chasing the puck? But he still can't impede the goalies ability to stop the puck? I don't even know anymore.
Goal callbacks this year are about as consistent as the Flames PP but its hard to argue that Gibson wasn't interfered with. I think he actually would have got his glove on it if Bennett's leg wasn't in the way. Sucks, and it seems there's been a lot of those go against us, but I think it was the right call.

None of the Ducks goals last night were anything special. Both of our goals were pretty, built from hard work by our team, by our two top lines. Elliott should have had that first goal, he has to give our team a chance in the 1st period to get up a goal or two instead of playing from behind. This Ducks team is beatable but Dougie and Brodie have to be much better than that in the final minutes of the game. Last night I was really close to turning the game off when Dougie went to the box, I just knew they would score and we would be too deflated to come back.
The Rakell goal went off Brodie's face area and then dropped down, that goal isn't on him it is just dumb luck. I am no superstitious at all but here is something to this curse. How does something like that play turn into a goal? How does a redirection off a skate that far out beat Elliott? I rarely doubt the Flames and I still don't think this series is over. Come back to the dome and play 1 period at a time, just win each period. Elliott has to play lights out from here on out and like everyone has posted, we can't take any more dumb penalties. To prevent a goal, sure, take it all day long but no more emotional penalties. It is exactly what the Ducks want and their PP is deadly with Getzlaf playing how he is, we have no hope of winning this series or a game if this crap continues.
JG needs to be more selfish, just put pucks to the net, I understand that Gibson had the angle, but hope for a sloppy rebound, shoot low. Gibson has been shaky, we need to shoot more, from everywhere. Look what happens when the Ducks do? They get garbage, lucky goals against us. We need to see more from Tkachuk, more from Gio, anything from Brouwer. Ferland seemed pretty quiet last night too. We just need more energy. I will be pissed at GG if he doesn't make a line up change. Just get those young guys in. Get Lazar and F. Hamilton/Hathaway in, take out Bouma and Brouwer, what have they done so far? Not enough.
Whatever the Flames do, they have to continue how they are playing 5 v 5, Elliott can't let those goals in early and our top defensemen can't take dumb penalties at crucial times in the game. GG put in some of the younger guys, get some energy back into the lineup.
This series is going back to Anaheim tied 2-2.
Go Flames Go.

Yikes CP. I am as frustrated as anyone, but this thread is just straight up toxic.
No fan has a right to tell another fan how to feel, but 30+ pages of words like losers, soft, bums, stupid, idiots, etc. I get that we are frustrated, but some of that is just a bad look.
Did the refs screw us it my view? yup. Was TJ's penalty a loss of composure, and a bit selfish, in a 3-2 game? For sure. But hockey is a game of bounces and I thought the Flames played a pretty damn good game for the majority.
I know the odds are bad to come back, but on the positive we have shown we can play with these guys, and we get to come home for some playoff hockey.
The beauty of sports is it is never over until its over. Let's give these guys something to rally for.

If there's one thing that has come from this leaked audio it's that I somehow gained even more respect for Rick Ball, just a true professional and good guy.

As for the JG pass I really think he thought Gibson was coming out to challenge; maybe he confused the two Ducks scrambling as one of them as Gibson, or he figures Gibson was going to scramble too.
Look at some of his other brilliant passes last night, like one back to the point. He's got great hockey sense and you take the good with the bad and always have with him.
Regardless, far be it from any internet sloths like us to question his instincts. More of then then not they are correct and a higher percentage then most players, he does things and sees things that other players don't.

Yep, glad I was wrong about initially thinking it was just Ball and Garrett talking. Ball comes out looking classy and professional.
Even Garrett comes off well.

I agree with others who say winning in Anaheim during these first 2 games was a long shot. Coming back from down 2-0 last night is a small victory which is what this team needs to compile against the Ducks unfortunately. Backlund's SH goal was awesome, as was the PP goal in terms of passing.
Need to contain Getzlaf somehow or this series is over in 5 - our forwards are either too small or play too small to stop that guy when he's motivated to win.

I cannot wait for tomorrow's game. I've never been to a playoff game before and it's going to be raucous.
For old times' sake, I'll break out the Jones jersey, just for fun. I haven't worn it yet this playoff.

Yeah, if he shot it into Gibson's chest or missed the net trying to go over his shoulder, everyone would have been screaming about the open Flame on the opposite side of the net.

The series isn't over by any stretch. If it was then we don't even need to turn up for the 2 home games.
Just win 1 game and go from there. No point in thinking too far ahead. Start with game 3 and make sure we win it.

Explanaition for the no goal call....
Quote:
Referee Brian Pochmara had ruled it no goal but the game was paused as the NHL’s Situation Room took a peek.
Viewers at home had reason to believe it would be overruled, to no avail.
Seeking clarification on the call, NHL senior VP Hockey Operations, Mike Murphy, told Postmedia how it went down.
“We reviewed the play because the puck went into the net,” said Murphy in an email.
“We checked to make sure the net was on, which it was. The refs, however, informed us that they had NO GOAL on the ice because (Anaheim goalie John) Gibson was bumped in the crease and unable to play his position. That is their call and the play is not reviewable, so their call on the ice rules.”
