I think the biggest difference between these 2 series is the Flames were completely outclassed against the wings on the road and got what they deserved. These flames today deserved better so while i believe the Flames can and will win their home games I still think they can win the series

As a group maybe...but individually there are a couple guys playing scared, and its obvious.

GG's Presser from last night wherein he rips the officiating a new one (tame, but for GG it's pretty telling)

Yeah maybe not the best comparison on my part. Just trying to show that tying the series at home is totally doable.

I think it is a good comparison because it proves the Flames can erase a 2 game hole my comment was just adding to that in the fact they deserve to be tied unlike teams in the past that won the next 2 at home.

I mean look at the difference - Johnny ties it in 2015 from right next to the dot with Anderson on the edge of the crease. Last night Gibson was swimming in the blue paint and Johnny was another two steps in. He needs to shoot instead of being a Tanguay.

thanks for the pic and comparison to 2 years ago... definitely seemed to be very close to the same spot...

i think the issue, for me, with the behind the back pass, a) it wasn't particularly fast, so there was plenty of time for Gibson to see it happening... and b) Johnny started making that move while gibson was still nailed to the post - he wasn't crossing in front the net to force gibson to slide across... so there was no place to shoot. Toronto's OT goal happened because Hotby vacated the post to follow that puck, so that back pass there had a wide open net.

Johnny should have shot it low to the left and hoped for gibson to give up a rebound to where frolik was...

Gibson has been giving up rebounds quite bit; calgary needs to have a better net presence to try to capitalize

I'm with others.... if the call on the ice is goaltender interference and they can't/won't review it, what was the point of reviewing it? Completely bizarre.

My understanding is the Situation Review was Toronto-initiated and the refs told them about the goalie interference.

Johnny did get a good slash on the hands from Bieksa earlier in the game (shot of him on bench clenching fist). Maybe that impacted his decision not to shoot? I don't really know if he took any shots after the slash. I could be just reaching...

That makes more sense. Although it should have been about a 3 second conversation,
"we want to review that last play"
"no need to, it's goalie interference"
click.

Lots of guys that are tentative. I thought Bouma played much better. Still not sure he brings enough for his role though.

The penalties are pretty puzzling. There is no consistency in any of the series. Not sure what the NHL is trying to prove, but I'd imagine it is frustrating for all teams.

We've seen everything called, not everything called, something called, nothing called all within the span of a period. Hard for teams to figure out how to play the game.

GG said in the presser that the ref told him that Toronto said it was no goal.. Eric Francis article says Toronto only reviewed if the puck had crossed the line before the net came off. It was a good goal, but the refs call on the ice was goaltender interference. GG would have used his challenge if the Ref didn't come up to the bench and say Toronto said it was no goal when they didn't. A cluster #### that cost us a lead.

You mix in some horrendous inconsistent officiating and we have a bunch of confused and angry fans.

Given what GG said after the game, the confusion makes sense. The NHL clearly has an incompetence problem going on with the officiating, but I suppose nothing will be done about it when the refs just close ranks and punish teams that dare say anything.

I was thinking even if it was called a goal Anaheim would challenge it and it would have been over turned. You know when you have no idea how it's going to be called there is something wrong with the process.
