To be fair, there were also a good number of people who thought this thread was a joke.
Also, just read the guy who said he'd rather have Griffin Reinhart. Lol.

It's not gonna be pretty when we lose our next 3 straight and Arsenal beat us to 4th. And United win the Europa, thus getting CL.
Couple that with a 4-0 first-round playoff loss to Edmonton... I might have to murder someone.
Anyway, Dougie Hamilton. That guy.

Criticism of Dougie's penalties is fair game. He's taken a lot of boneheaded penalties all season long and now in these last 2 games has taken 2 bad penalties that have lead to crushing goals. But to fair to him, the more I look at that penalty tonight, he was interfered with and Perry should've received a coincidental interference call.

Looking like early season Hamilton to me......thing is....in the playoffs...you don't have 25 games to work your #### out.
If you want to be picky, he's had multiple bad reads in his own zone while playing the puck....carelessly just throwing the puck up the ice, making a bad pass, losing possession....been bailed out by Gio multiple times....

Dougie's immaturity prominently on display in Games 1 and 2. Felt bad for him that he got tagged by the refs. Feel worse for him that he is wearing the goat horns right now. Was really hoping the Flames could weather the storm and take it to OT.

I think he's been great. Composure and discipline will hopefully come with age and experience. Seems Anaheim has been making it difficult for him to get his point shot through though, one of those things he's excelled at all season.

You can say what you want about Dougie, you can say he doesn't hit hard enough, you can say he isn't dynamic enough, you can say he makes too many bad decisions with/without the puck.
All of that doesn't change that he helps his team win more games than any other young defenseman in the league. It's actually pretty incredible that he could be a lot better than he is and yet he is still comfortably the best player amongst his peers. He's not Lidstrom, he's not even Karlsson, but he is a damn fine player and he will be the horse/deer that the Flames will ride to success for a long time.

Seriously. He will be an elite #1 for years to come. He's not physical enough? Check out his hit on Getzlaf. He isn't good defensively? Kid has dominant possession numbers as a 23 year old. How about his offense? 50 points.
Some will never be satisfied, but we have ourselves one of the premier young defenseman in the league. Not to mention he's 6'6 - 237lbs, skates like a deer, and can lead the rush like a forward. We're lucky to have him.

Or they should have atleast cancelled each other out and play should have went on.

So, it's a 1-way street? when Hamilton plays well you can come here and praise him as a god and say : " suck it haters, that's dougie for you!" but when he almost single handedly loses games or at least helps the other team to win the games you can't say anything?

Complaining about Dougie's poor play is like complaining about a rainy day in Arizona. Doesn't happen very often, so you just come across like a pathetic whiner, ungrateful for what you have.
But if that's what you want to do, giver. We'll just make fun of you the other 95% of the time when it's beautiful and sunny.

Hamilton's had one horrible game and one mediocre game where he took a bad ill-timed penalty and some people conviently ignore the last 82 games and 50 points he scored. Come on guys. We're better than this.

I'm not ignoring anything, Dougies been very good, but the saying goes you're as good as your last game or whatever, also pretty big 2 games there where he has made some boneheaded plays. I'm not worried though, he's still young and he is already a stud.

Hamilton is skilled but he often struggles to make the right play in the defensive zone and he lacks discipline. I get a Phaneuf vibe off him - a player who relies on his considerable natural talent, and doesn't bear down on the small details. A guy who can skate as well as Hamilton can shouldn't be getting beat outside as often as he does, and swinging your stick at the guy who beats you is just a lazy and dumb play.
The offensive side of his game is obviously there. But he needs a lot of work on play without the puck - not to mention discipline - to become the complete defenceman that a lot of fans here claim he is.

I don't know why Hamilton is being singled out. The entire team is consistently making boneheaded plays.

He just has been caught the most by the officials. The trip on the non too many men penalty is tough I don't pin that one on him. The Perry penalty late yesterday was also BS should have been both guys going. His retaliation on the Gio hit was dumb mostly because he completely whiffed on his cross check
